MBRP Catback + Secondary Downpipes

BMS sells them now too(not crapping on Ecko's work).

I exaggerated on the weight. The stock exhaust with 2" piping weighs a touch over 40 pounds. The MBRP system with 2.5" piping is ~25 pounds or so. Still about a 15 pound difference!
Just to clarify. It’s 25lbs lighter, is that just the MRBP cat-back compared to stock? Or is that downpipes as well? I’m asking as The system doesn’t necessarily look a whole lot lighter than the stock, but I have no ideas I haven’t weighed them side-by-side.

That’s just the catback exhaust comparison. Its 15 lbs lighter then stock.

Midpipes don’t come with the MBRP exhaust so not included in this weight comparison.

Thanks! I just didn’t want to buy an exhaust system that was heavier.

How much gain from just the cat back in the 1/4 mile?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Can't expect much performance gains from just a catback. Maybe on a dyno little bit more HP at the end but thats about it.

No performance gain? I gotta ask, what’s the point? Just the better sound? They are dyno charts with whp gains, I would think possibly a tenth.

Sound. Weight savings. But not nearly enough to equate to more than the margin of error (i.e., negligible difference) at the track.

A catback exhaust is more of a supporting mod than a performance modification. It can help to enhance other upstream mods. In and of itself there’s not much to be had with just the catback. Most likely any perceived gains are a function of the increased sound rather than any measurable difference.

If replacing the secondary down pipe with catless does not throw a cel, would it be safe to say that a state inspection would not be an issue?

It will depend on your laws in your state. In CA, where I live, you have a substantial amount of time to be able to mod your new car before having to worry about state inspections.

I installed the MBRP cat back on my sons 2020 GT1 this weekend and it sounds nothing like this. He was wanting something with a similar sound so we ended up pulling off the mufflers and running straight pipes to the tips.

I read above that removing the second catalytic converters doesn’t cause check engine lights or a programmer. Is that correct? If so we may try that and put the mufflers back on.

Yes correct. Also the MBRP’s will open up after awhile and sound much better.

Here is what my ARK secondary downpipes sound like couldn't do much reving because I live in an apartment building and my garage is next to an apartment, must suck for them.

Wondering how MBRP will sound with this, yours sounds pretty fantastic to me.

Also, I'm not sure why there is a squeak when I press the throttle might need to get that checked.

Hello Mr Smoofy , exhaust sounds great. Did you replace the entire exhaust or just sections.
I'm looking to replace from the rear axle back. Can't seem to find axle back only sections.
If you know of one please drop a line. STEVOGT1 lackwood ranch fl

I was wondering if anyone has the MBRP exhaust paired with DC Sports secondary DP's? I originally was looking at ARK Performance & Jun BL for secondaries, but I can get the DC Sports for $150 - $200 cheaper. Design-wise, all 3 look identical as it is such a short run of exhaust piping, so it's hard to imagine the sound would be any different than the OP's video of the purple stinger with MBRP + JunBL secondaries. I love the sound throughout the entire rev range as it sounds clean & deep with no rasp.

I have the SSR pipes. They were the only option when I bought them. They should all sound the same and as long as the fitment is good on the DC’s I’d go with them and save some money.

The only difference is likely weld quality. I have the MBRP/ARK combo with aftermarket Tips no complaints other than one of my cheap tips rattles on start up.

I was hoping aftermarket tips would solve my rattling problem. I have the MBRP provided exhaust clamps torqued to the max spec of 75 lb-ft (I actually broke 2 clamps before hitting max spec), but the exhaust will rotate just enough on the passenger side so that the MBRP tips are resting on the Stinger's fake tips. Sounds terrible at idle :( with the constant "tinking" sound. Driver's side is perfect and the MBRP tips sit dead center in the Stinger's fake tips without the clamps even being tightened, so there's never any worry about them slipping down further.

I believe the DC secondaries are rwd only btw.

Thanks so much for mentioning! I totally forgot to even question this as the site I was using was not drivetrain specific, so I figured they would work for both. I did just now find them on KHARTUNERZ which does reflect RWD only . I was so excited to get these downpipe for only $276 through Amazon or Walmart (lol....yes even Walmart has them available for shipment). Looks like I'll have to save a while longer for the $600 Ark or $650 Jun BL DP's.
