MBRP Catback + Secondary Downpipes

So those two large cylinders in the middle of this piece of the OEM exhaust aren’t the secondary cats?

If not, what are they? Catback exhausts all encompass this piece of the exhaust, correct?
Factory resonators. Yes, all cat back exhausts replace this middle section.

Those are additional silencers. The cats are right after the turbo, and before those.

I’ve wondered what would happen, sound wise, if you removed those for a x pipe

You'd likely get a bit more sound but the stock muffler's are gigantic and would still likely stifle a lot of it.

On a side note, I was shocked at how heavy the stock system was when I removed it. I bet it's 20 to 30 pounds heavier than my MBRP exhaust and that's with larger 2.5" tubing.

Good lord! I figured heavy, but not that heavy lol

It is heavy! did my Akrapovic Exhaust Tips the other day and looks much nicer than the oem tips.

I exaggerated on the weight. The stock exhaust with 2" piping weighs a touch over 40 pounds. The MBRP system with 2.5" piping is ~25 pounds or so. Still about a 15 pound difference!

Here is the question.

I'm about to buy this setup. If it's too loud for my neighborhood, anybody want to buy it deeply discounted?

anybody still game on this?

I'm tempted to order. Want more noise, not sure my neighbors will want that though

Depends on price but I'm leaning towards this exhaust already have 2nd downpipe

The MBRP is currently on backorder but if you are still interested in getting it I would suggest putting in a order asap because it sells out very fast. I would be happy to help you out with a discount on the setup. Shoot me a message and we can get things rolling when you are ready.

It would be discounted off MSRP, worth the price if it's too loud for me.

I did just that.

A little bit of humming at 2kRPM
Startup is a bit louder but during drive not much of a difference vs. stock.
I wouldn't recommend it for sound.

Then no because you wouldn't be buying it for the MSRP price

I just installed my k&n intake system. Just received my OBX downpipes and my mbrp exhaust comes Tuesday Having it all installed together with the JB4 tuner, plugs, and foot pedal tuner next week. Can't wait to have all the new sounds and horsepower. this car is just way too quiet from the factory they should have put a little bit of rumble into it like the M3. Doesn't matter that I still would have done all the exhaust over again. Lol

Easiest Catback Install I’ve ever done. Install on my FR-S was hellacious. You can easily do this install with standard tools a set of jack stands. Things get infinitely easier if you remove the cross brace (just unbolt, wiggle it, and swing it to one side). You don’t even have to remove it completely. Make sure you have some penetrating oil and you’re golden.
Will ky jelly work?
