Does anyone else have brake fade issues? Not even on the track, just had to emergency brake on the highway and after grabbing really hard for a moment, the brakes turned into cheese and just stopped grabbing. Freaked me out. Mine are a bit "warped" if that matters.

"Warped"? You mean shudder? I haven't heard of brake fade in one emergency demand like that. I wonder if you have air in your lines. Does the pedal stay firm or does it feel like it's about to reach the floor?

Yeah, the standard Stinger shudder. It didn't reach the floor but it certainly got lighter when I hit it.

I'll try a bleed.

Agree with Merlin, doesn't make sense for it to be fade unless you were doing some seriously hard braking for long periods of time. It's gotta be something else.

Yeah... I was surprised but for some reason couldn't think of the fluid. It's been recently flushed by the dealer but who knows what they did.

Yeah if they messed that up they'd be getting a very angry call from me. There are a lot of things you don't want them to mess up, that's got to be near the top.

Ah hah. Sounds like something that they didn't do right. When you feel the brakes turning to mush, can you get the pedal to firm up by pumping it?

They flushed the brake fluid on a 2019 car? Why did they do that, for a start?

Yeah good question! I was wondering the same.

Ding ding ding.. there's your problem. Let alone the fact they shouldn't have touched them to begin with.

I concur if just noticing this after a brake flush, I would suspect air in the lines or possibly a botched fluid replacement. I can't recall hearing about brake fade from a single emergency stop in a modern vehicle equipped with Brembos in....ever. After at least a couple laps on the track, sure.

Could be service B for the Stinger which is a brake job (~400cnd)

My dealer supplied 4 level service schedule only mentions 'service brakes' on service 3 ($379 CAD), which I'm pretty sure is just a visual inspection and possible adjustment/lubrication of the service and parking brakes if the pads and rotors are still good - definitely wouldn't include a brake fluid flush. Any additional parts required like pads or rotors I believe would be extra cost as well.

They do include a side sheet of 'additional services' (which are not part of the KIA service schedule) where they offer an extra cost brake fluid flush at a 'suggested' interval of 3 years/36K kilometers, along with GDI cleaning, alignments, etc.

However, my OM 2018 service schedule calls for brake fluid inspection only, every 2 years or 12K miles/20K kilometers - no set flush/replace intervals out to the 15 year limit of the schedule. If I was tracking the car, that's a different matter - but it's not required by KIA's service schedule (that's the bible to me), and is not something I'll be doing for my non-competition car unless I see contamination or develop a leak.

I'd be interested to hear what the OP's dealers reasoning was, to flush it on a 1 year old (or less) car.

wow so 379cnd to just visually check the brakes... that's absurd... lol

I think that price includes "everything else" which should be cabin air filter, oil and filter...whatever miscellaneous things. Not a smoking deal, but checks off the warranty card.

In AUS fluid replacement is part of 20,000km/24month fixed price service it's not that unusual.

I have a billion miles on it haha. Well 38k anyway. I drive it a lot!

The local dealer has me very confused because they said my next service is a B which they told me is $379, but when I got the car 2 years ago they gave me this which shows the service pricing for 2019 Kia's. The dealers need to get their shit together because it's not very clear for the Stinger. What they gave me doesn't show a $400 service until a "Service E".
