Lozic ECU + TCU + AWD Tune

I may be out of my league here but I’ll give you my understanding to the logic behind this. When you create more power in a car- that will also create more heat. The more heat you have the faster the oil will breakdown. So going to 5w40 and a little thicker will in theory protect your engine and turbos a little longer than the 5w30 would. So why you see the companies that sell added power recommending 5w40. They want to have more protection once you add the extra fun! Obviously good oil and change intervals probably trumps all anyways! But those are my two pennies. Side note: 2018 Stinger actually has 5w30 and 5w40 recommended in the owners manual. For some reason 2019 and up the manual stopped showing 5w40. (My guess is fuel mileage)

How many PSI/Bar is everyone running and with what grade of oil? I know LAP3 recommends 5w40 but when I asked LOZIC, he says use whatever you want. I’ve been using Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w30 for the past 100,000km and it’s been good to me. Should I be bumping it up to 5w40 if I’m going with 1.3Bar?
anyone using 5w40 instead of 5w30 on tuned cars ?

See my post #9 and #15 in the thread above. Was just discussing this yesterday. I noticed oil consumption when using 5W-30 and this was before having a ECU tune. Since switching to 5W-40 I don't have any oil consumption.

I switched to 5w-40 as well and will stay with it going forward. JB4 tuned but still.

sub 20-30 degrees F the 5w-30 will probably perform the best, but if you are above freezing the 5W-40 will be great, especially in summer weather.

Installed the ECU and WOW the difference. Don't hesitate if you are on the fence it is worth it. I wish i would have done it sooner the car just drives so much smoother.

Awesome to hear. Did you have JB4 before? What specs did you go with on your ECU?

I had the Racechip GTS before. 1.4 bar, boost by mode B, and boost ready-on at 2500 RPM. Love the setup the TCU tune even feels better now with the ECU.

Love it! 1.4 is what I am Going for too and probably boost by mode D. Boost ready-on at 2500 RPM sounds perfect. I wasn’t aware he got it past 2,000. That’s awesome!

Mode D is looking like the sweet spot. Mode B in comfort it feels moire like it is an N/A car most of the time. But I do enjoiy it when cruising, I still spend most of my time in Sports mode.

Getting my ECU returned same settings, & TCU pressure 1 with softer 2nd to 1st downshift.

Done any launches yet?

Not yet just a couple of roll pulls. It is still cold here going to wait until the temps hit the 60s for any launches. I have had the TCU for 6 months now and it launched like crazy before. I'm looking forward to what it is going to be like now with the ECU.

Sweet keep us posted. I’m curious how much change there will be. I still am not good at the launch. But getting better. Flooring it and letting off brake at 2,500 has been my most consistent.

Yep, first thing I noticed was engine smoothness. Felt buttery.

Sorry if this is a repeat- With the Lozic ECU tune can you brake boost from a roll?

Can someone help explain to me the TCU? How does it install, what it does, how it works, costs...I have a JB4 installed and having the BMS pedal tuner coming, but taking baby steps here. Does anyone else do a TCU, is it comparable?

TIA

PS: I have an AWD, 2.5T

I'm gonna throw this out there because I think this is VERY important for everyone know.

Today I drained, refilled and level checked my transmission fluid. 3.5 quarts came out and I had to put 4 quarts in to get the correct level. I was a half quart low on transmission fluid!

It's BS that in the owners manual Kia states under "normal" conditions no check or service is required. And even when under severe conditions the fluid isn't checked/changed until 60,000 miles. I'm only at 37,000 miles and was already a half quart low.

So I went for a test drive after changing the fluids (I changed both diff's fluids as well) And let me tell you the only thing I could keep saying was WOW!

The shifts are lighting fast now. It felt like I was driving a different car. Anyone that has low miles or their fluid level is correct probably will not have the same experience I did.

If you have a TCU tune or I'm gonna go ahead and say if you are tuned period. Then I HIGHLY recommend that at minimum you check the fluid level of your transmission. If you are over 30K then replace the fluid. Or have the dealer or wherever you get your service take care of this ASAP.

Being tuned pushes the transmission well beyond Kia's severe service schedule. And with the TCU tune the oil pump runs at higher pressure. If the pump is being starved for fluid then the pump is going to burn out faster. Also if the pump is starved for fluid the transmission will not operate optimally.

I apologize for the long post but my goal was to keep everyone's Stinger running in optimum condition and give your transmission the best chance of a long life.

What was the easiest way for you to check it? How was doing the work yourself?
