After 113 pages of posts, I have a few questions as this has gotten me interested in the cool features Lozic has been making.
I spend a lot of time in Sport on my daily drives. The TCU tune sounds really appealing as my transmission is really slow to downshift manually on my stock GT2.
I hear a lot on pressure 2 downshifts from 2->1 being harsh, especially for daily driving. I know my stock, manual downshifts from 2->1 are pretty harsh already, unless I'm in just the right sweetspot (and I have a 2021 so it is rev-matching). However, it does not seem like my stock TCU downshifts into first when in full-auto mode but I'll have to count gears and maybe it is just slipping so much I do not notice. Does the Lozic TCU downshift into first when in sport, full-automatic or only in manual mode?
Does anyone have a video of what they consider a harsh downshift from 2->1? Maybe a video with something hanging from their review mirror to show the impact of the jolt; I recall a YouTube I can't find now of two guys driving showing the jolt driving a pressure 3 or other tuner TCU but they were at speed.
I really like that the TCU can make full-automatic downshift more. (Though I don't know I'd be up for braking the wheels free on downshifts!) Does anyone know if Lozic can set sport to downshift and comfort to downshift but not as aggressively as sport (e.g. for use on snow and just easier in-city deceleration) and still allow the torque converter to disengage in ECO (coast mode I think I've heard it called)?
I see pressure 0, 2 and 3 TCU reviews but have not heard of anyone with a pressure 1 or 4 yet. Has anyone yet actually ordered and driven a pressure 1 TCU?
Lastly, I have had my full stock GT2 transmission slip (more likely fail to shift as it did not feel mechanical) in full-auto mode three times and once in manual mode. So far, the full-auto times have all been in the same place, under very hard acceleration onto a far-left lane through highway traffic getting on to the Interstate after a very fun chicane on-ramp. (So basically the car does 40ish MPH for a mile, then manual shifts with high lateral-G 70ish MPH before exiting the chicane. At exit there maybe a panic brake/downshift to 1st if the on-ramp has a stop light operating otherwise I exit the chicane about 60ish MPH and then accelerate to 80ish MPH with lots of rapid deceleration/acceleration crossing five lanes of traffic. In crossing traffic, speeding up I have thrice had it hit redline, engine derate/hit the redline wall and then the transmission shifted and acceleration picked right back up.
Similarly, doing some home-brew auto-cross in a business park, I have had lag downshifting. (I was in sport, manual mode and asked the transmission to drop three gears coming up to a circle and it did nothing for about 10 seconds as such I lazily took the circle then as I accelerated out of the circle in 5th all the sudden the car dropped to 2nd right in the middle of acceleration.)
Has anyone experienced transmission slips/fail to shifts with the Lozic TCU?
Because I'm wordy, tl;dr, questions in bold.
