Lozic ECU and JB4 map 6 log review

thats a good list of mods. Im used to seeing higher ign1 values because I think I am pushing my car more, as I run WMI as well. If your ECU has 100 miles on it, its probably not adapting any more and its just the ECU pulling the timing. the 2.3 is not that bad, I would just try a few different stations around you, take a few logs with the gas from each station, and decide which has the least amount of pull. your Logs should also be longer to really get a feel for what the car is doing. id say at least 60mph worth, so 20-80, 40-100, 60-120, ect. Also, make sure you do all your logging in sport mode, as I think lozic purposefully makes all his tunes less aggressive when the car is in comfort mode, weither you want the power by mode or not.
Sounds good, I’ll try other gas stations and different/longer logs. I’m always in sport when I log too. How often do you change your spark plugs? I’m around 18k on mine. I’m going to try other gas stations first to see if that improves the timing before swapping them out.

What kind of timing values do you see without vs. with WMI? On map 4/5 running E30 I tend to see 14.5-15.5, but not sure if that's normal/ideal.

the ing1 target is usually set the same in the tune, its the amount of timing reduction you see that matters. for example, without WMI, I would get between 6 to 9 degrees of timing retard (pull), with WMI, I get none to 0.8 degrees

Good to know also is that KIA have a revision from jan-23 that is an upgrade in knock system. I think it is softare but I dont know.
That hurts my brain. This torque based ECU is already PITA to work on, can’t imagine more changes on top of that.

I received my second revised ECU and finally did a pull to see how it runs. I’ll attach the log and tell me what y’all think. It definitely feels better than before. Not overboosting but still has some timing corrections. I went ahead and ordered some more spark plugs as I just hit around 18k miles on current plugs.
As mentioned by Adoom your IGN1 is fairly low. I would suspect the optimal octane level is not reached. You can use JB4 map6 to shave off some boost off. Update your firmware and set your 1500 rpm to zero(which means all the numbers in the box means boost reduction)and 3 till 4500 rpm and 2 for 5000 rpm. This should give your a fairly flat 17 psi boost curve. Of course, bit 0,5,6. Your current boost level needs E30 mix or WMI.

I’ve been testing different gas stations to see which one has the least pull. They’re pretty similar and still have some timing corrections. Also there are times when I accelerate it makes a hesitating sound. I’ll attach my recent log and a video of the sound (never mind it won’t let me post video of the sound). If somebody could tell me what they think it could be. I’m trying to figure out if I need another revision to 1.3 bar on 91 octane, since my fuel doesn’t seem to be getting the job done. Or if I should try E30 mix to see if that improves the timing. As far as running just JB4 instead of flashed ECU. My downpipes throw P0420/0430 which prevents my car from performing in sport mode. And the flashed ECU disables those codes so I can perform in sport mode. And the other downside is spent the money already for the ECU lol. I know it’s a long post but I would appreciate some feedback, thanks.

an e30 mix should 100% improve timing. I cant promise it will make it perfect, but it should def improve it. Also, can you upload the video you took to youtube as an unlisted video, then link it here?

I’ll try E30 next time I fill up. And here is the link

I dm’d Lozic the video and he said “it’s the turbo swing valve opening/closing to meet the target value.” But let me know what you think.

EWG controlling boost at part throttle. Pretty normal method to prevent too much boost at low rpm hence preventing LPSI. It sounds ugly and feels bad but saves your engine’s ass

So I put 3.5 gal of E85 in my tank when I last filled up to see if that would improve my timing. It did improve however now the fuel pump is crashing. Trying to see which route I should go.
- Go back to 93 octane only with some timing corrections
- get another ECU revision to 1.3 bar
- any other suggestions

Attached is my log with E30 and would like to know what y’all think, thanks

3.5 gal of the E85 shouldn’t make your HPFP crash no matter what. You should probably go get a revision for 1.3 91tune with 13 HPFP. He does have a tune with HPFP at 13 and can take more E. Also his 91 1.3bar boost curve should be super easy to add boost with JB4 if when you’re running E30, or adding WMI/CPI in the future. It doesn’t seem like this platform can get rid of JB4 forever so stacking is probably the best solution. All 93 boost curves are pretty hard to play with JB4.

What would be the difference between the 13HPFP and 10HPFP? The tune right now is for 1.4bar 91octane. Would getting the BMS WMI kit now be an option also?

It always good to have meth, but your car should be able to handle E30 without meth no matter what. Meth can be a solution for your current crashing problem, but it’s not how it should be solved.

Your current boost still looks too much for pump gas alone so I wouldn’t hesitate on switching to 1.3 bar 91 tune. Also if you are considering WMI for real in the future, this 1.3 bar 91 tune would be a good base tune for map6 when you are adding extra boost.

I had same problem with my lap 3 tune i used jb4 and reduced boost 1-3 lbs with map 6 through rpm range and fixed the fuel crash and helped with ignition timing.

1.4 Bar 91 Octane running on E30. Is it worth it to play with map6 or should I remap for 93?

Your log looks real good ? but why does it not go over 5900 rpms's ? you using paddle's ?

You dont wanna go over 5900.

My TCU shift at 8% lower.
Remap since I have the gas and the mods to push higher boost than the current tune. I noticed that the more Ethanol mix the higher the boost peak gets. So I will try the new ECU with E20 and progress from there.
