Lease then Buyout - Contract Explanation

I just called in Tulsa OK. 24 mo lease went from $8900 down to $7500 and Customer cash went from $4500 down to $4000 if the sales manager is correct. 2020 GT2 RWD. I'm losing ground here...but have my eye on a G80 Sport...:)

That looks better at $9300, I have to assume he got it wrong. I looked at the Genesis incentives and saw the term Bonus cash (Retail Balloon Cash) Are you familiar with that term?

Sorry I’m not familiar

I can't seem to find the incentives for the 2020s anymore 2020 Kia Stinger Deals, Incentives & Rebates for November 2020 | Edmunds

Also, a dealership offered me $49K for a $50K MSRP non-demo RWD ceramic/blk GT2 with $4500 rebate knocking it down to 44.5K.

I turn down the incentive, and I am trying to negotiate the price as it makes little sense. I've seen AWDs for less. I am trying to get $44-45K on the sale price alone. Was I right in turning down the dealer's rebate? I believe you cannot stack those rebates with the rebates of leasing.

Correct. No stacking of rebates. It one or the other. 2020 new stingers are disappearing fast. Dealership needs to offer better discounts on their end. Rebates comes from Kia Finance.

this info is correct, no stacking rebates.
Also Edmunds is slow to update the rebate.
Autobytel just listed the rebate info.
Thanks. Should I let the dealer know I am trying to lease as I negotiate the sales price? I think they are being difficult to lower the sales price because they think I will also add on the $4500 rebate they are doing now. Perhaps if I let them know I am looking to lease they would be more willing.

Need to tell them that you know the rebate are NOT coming from the dealers, it’s from KIA, it’s a bonus.
It has no bearing in the negotiations. Get the best possible dealer discount

Just be aware that your credit is going be hit twice by Kia. One for dealership and one for Kia finance.

If you are confident in your credit I would encourage you not to give anyone your SSN until you have reached an agreement on price and are signing paperwork. Running your credit early is yet another pressure tactic they employ, if you are leasing you would only need your credit pulled at the time of writing up your lease, no need for the dealership to also shop for financing options.

If you are not confident I would suggest checking your credit cards for free fico checks, or use credit-karma and subtract approx 15 points.

So think I have found a really nice deal. Going in Thursday to discuss:

2020 GT2
MSRP: $53,800
Dealer Discount: $6,500
Incentives: $9,300 (according to autobytel assuming correct)
Dealer Fee: $750 (aligns with what is on their site)
Estimated taxes: $1,140 (3% in NC)
Tags/Title: TBD

Looking like roughly $39,890 plus the tags/title/etc.

Does this look right? Are dealer fees negotiable? If so, I imagine once I'm there I should be able to get that down at least a couple hundred. Anything else I should be thinking about?

well this didn't go as planned. Frankly, it was frustrating since I drove 1h45m each way with the understanding the above numbers were agreed upon since the person I was emailing with said, "the sales manager agreed to $6,500." Turns out the $6,500 was on their bump sticker which was $2,800 above MSRP and includes the BS nitrogen in tires, etc. I told the salesperon that sticker means nothing to me, it's a made up number. Even showed him what I was emailed and he tried to blame it on the person working the email correspondence was new. Also told him that I had offers of bigger discounts on a 2021 and he said, "but the incentives aren't as high on a 2021." I told him that the incentives are not paid by them and so it makes no difference. Also, this car was manufactured in Dec 2019 so it's likely been on their lot since February. Eventually walked over ~$2,200 which I am fine with. Not in a rush. Just overall frustrated with making the drive. Guess going forward I'll ensure that a sales manager has fully agreed to a discount from MSRP so they don't try to play games.

Be prepared to go out of state. I’d avoid the Carolinas altogether.

That sucks!! Next time try having them fax or overnight the paperwork before you go
Keep hunting!

anyway to find out which states requires you to deal with the dealership for lease buyouts?

Not sure, I’ve had remembering when reading through the thread 1 or 2 or state beside Florida, but do not remember which state.
You can try maybe calling KMF if they can let you know.

Sorry to hear about this. I think this is par for the course for Kia dealerships. I've bought a lot of cars over my lifetime (it's kinda a hobby for me), and I would say by far, Kia dealers have the worst salespeople I've ever dealt with. Very deceitful, bait and switch, give you the runaround, etc.

this is normal trust me @crozbee . I have been working since late September and whole October , Carolina and around 200 miles are not worth your time , they just don't know how to sell a car and if you know more than them, they get pissed off. Thats why I have to go out of state to purchase my vehicle. it was not easy but totally worth it.

Is it mandatory to pay the first month's lease up front? I thought this was negotiable. The dealer is telling me otherwise via text. I was told I can roll it in with the other payments. Should I do this since I will.buyout?
