LAP3 Tune for Stinger 400 hp to the wheels

Call me selfish, but....
Actually I'd call you dishonest not selfish. Getting someone else to pay for something broken because you made a choice that broke that item is dishonest. You wouldn't do that to a person you know, right? Just because Kia is a corporation and not a person, doesn't make it right to lie to them.

i think most people are just worried about going to the dealer for an oil change and losing their warranty because the car is tuned.

Well put me in the camp where if you mod it you are responsible for it.

Hence why I am researching the crap out of any mods I might do at this time. At least then I feel as though I did my best to avoid problems. If they arise I will take responsibility for them.

I am afraid I get really bored of these warranty questions. If you are going to mod your car, then take responsibility for your actions. Detectable or not why should Kia pay if you blow up the engine? If you can’t afford the repair don’t make the mod. Too many people want something for nothing. Grow a pair or leave the car stock. Rant over.
Definitely don’t appreciate the rudeness. These open forums are for all of us who are not as “gifted” as you can learn and share experiences. You can fly pass by the posts you get bored about, as any other descent person that is reading here does... You may be something like 16yo or so, right?

I quickly browsed the forums for tuning results and for the RWD version the numbers I've seen are:

1. 430 WHP and 463 lbs.ft of Torque (64 kg.m) with a dual chip and an exhaust from 343whp 376 lbs.ft before the tune

2. 429 WHP 441 lbs.ft with dual chip (does not mention if there is an exhaust as well) from 326whp 383 lbs.ft before the tune

3. 418 WHP 455 lbs.ft with dual chip (no mention of exhaust) from 338whp 376 lbs.ft before the tune

Single chip gets "only" 390~400whp but the problem is that the power drops early at the end of the RPM range, and that problem seems to be solved using two chips.

The thing that personally worries me a little bit is, will the transmission not fail with so much torque?
I read somewhere that transmission spec is for a maximum of 433 lbs.ft of torque (60 kg.m).
So far no problem was reported but only the future will tell us for the long term use..

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

That's a big question right now - with no definitive answers... Like you said, time will tell. I've heard there transmission can handle plenty more power - but that's only hearsay right now...

Once tuners discover how much Kia left on the table for the 3.3, I doubt it'll be much longer from there before someone grenades either the tranny or motor

That probably will happen at one point and while that will be bad for somebody - it'll show everyone what that limit is. If you're willing to take the rest - you need to be prepared for the consequences...

I just stumbled upon this video.
It doesn't say if its lap3 uncle chip but I assume its a double chip and maybe an exhaust but wow....

What was that in MPH? Maybe 135-140?

Nevermind. It says in the comments in a single chip. So I assume the 440hp are not whp..
but it seems so fast... o_O

He has a single Lap3 Uncle chip. Best part about being married to a Korean...free translations on YouTube comments.

Hello all I do run the lap 3 in my stinger gt and its a single and its great no issues at all the pull out of the hole is hard though I may try the second one just to see the difference in it

FYI about ECU's reporting to KIA. I am in pretty tight with my KIA service manager and the factory trained Tech they have. This new Stinger ECU DOES take a snapshot for thrown engine codes and the very minute the Service Tech hooks up to the car the entire ECU file goes to KIA HQ and is analysed by their computers. The system is not-so-fondly being referred to by the Service Departments around the country as "Sky Net"(Think Terminator)

He personally installed a LAP3 on one of their employee's Stinger and says that, while they will always try to blame the chip for certain failures, the legal standard to argue in case this happens to you is can they PROVE that the chip caused the failure. Otherwise, they warranty work is on them. I know who I'll take mine to in such an instance, AFTER removing the evidence so as to not throw it in their face.

Good to know. Thanks for sharing!
