I have the survey sitting on my desk right now. Its very long. Waiting to see how my paint complaint comes out. Other than that the car has been awesome. Trunk rattle fix was no biggie .

There is a TSB (technical service bulletin) on it. Basically a known issue with fix available. The TSB says to adjust the two round stoppers on the trunk lid to about 1 inch. I needed to spin mine out a little. And the dealer can also replace those plastic claw looking pieces in the hatch sill to make a tighter fit for the trunk lid. Just spinning out the two stoppers stopped 90 % of my noise and I had the dealer do the fix as well.

it is the fourth consecutive year that Kia is the highest-ranking Mass Market brand.
Porsche(79 PP100)ranks fourth and Ford (81 PP100) ranks fifth.

Let's be honest... Initial quality doesn't mean a whole lot in the big scheme of car ownership. However, KIA does quite well in the 3-year dependability survey as well. This means a little more to me because I have already received my survey with only 920 miles on my car. I have yet to experience the "trunk rattle," paint chipping, or seat/leather wear. These issues have a good chance of showing up and would be reflected in later surveys such as the dependability survey while not being captured in the initial quality survey.

Why do you think they have a "good chance" of showing up? Most people do not experience these problems, so chances are, you won't experience them.
In this case, I used a "good chance" to refer to a possibility, not a probability. I think there is a difference in saying, "most people don't experience these problems," and "Most people haven't experienced these problems to date." My point in this case was that when problems "pop up," it usually isn't within the first 1000 miles or 1st month of ownership. A better overall indication of quality would be the 3 year dependability ratings, not initial quality. As KIA performs well in both metrics, we likely have little to worry about.

Plus the most important thing that actually made me decide to buy a Stinger: the brand new platform developed and tested and retested over many years before being marketed for sale. This car is not a sudden inspiration or flash in the pan product. Its designers and developers are big names in the European sports car industry, now working for Kia for years. This car is their baby.
Part of the IQS (aside from quality/reliability) are things like ergonomics. intuitiveness of controls, smoothness/speed (not being laggy, etc.).
Toyota and Lexus telematics/infotainment systems are known not to be the most user-friendly.

go research JD Power , they are the real deal , and very respected across several categories of consumer products . They're real !

I think many are conflating the "Initial Quality" survey with the "3 Year Dependability" survey. Both from JD Power. It is noteworthy that Kia and Hyundai still perform higher than Toyota in both but Lexus claims the #1 spot on dependability.
Excellent point. The number one reason dealers take so much time to set up your "electronics" and familiarize you with the car before you leave the lot after purchasing is because this factors into the survey heavily.

no, lets really be honest.....initial quality DOES mean a whole of a lot in the big scheme of car owenership…..that is why JD Power has such rankings...not trying to be rude here and I know all brands of cars/trucks will have issues.....but do not make JD Power insignificant....it does help others make educated decisions on what and what not to consider and what or what brands to take a closer look at before a purchase. That is my opinion from someone that has been buying "new" cars/trucks for the better part of fifty years.
