Kia Stinger vs The World

I'm active in group called Warsaw Night Racing and I raced quite a few cars so far on quater mile (400m). Lot of people underestimate Stinger.

Some I can share was getting equal with Audi S3 (tuned to 375HP) and BMW M4 xdrive (no idea if stock/tuned).

Especially when you launch control Stinger it goes extremly well.

clearly not what he said

"But we did weave in and out of traffic getting up to about 115 at times and eventually I got boxed in and lost the WRX"

incredibly dangerous and selfish behavior. He shouldn't have a license if he's going to drive like this.

shortly after buying my 2018 stinger the dealership had a stinger appreciation track day using their cars. I arrived early so got in a couple of laps with the pro driver they had on hand so now had a better idea of what to do. There was a bit of rain so was not overly confident on performance. Boy was I wrong. No slip at all even with launch control due to amazing Michelins. Drifted a couple of corners. I truly believe Stingers are more than the posted 365 HP. Yee ha, Best driving day in a long time

I got there early and got in a couple of laps with the pro driver they had on hand so had a better idea of what to do. When it came my turn it was raining a bit so was not overly confident on performance. Boy was I wrong. Starting with launch control and the sticky Michelins, no slip at all. Top speed on straight a way 160 K's+- and first time, drifted a couple of corners. Fun day. After this I truly believe that the posted 365 HP is very light. The pro driver agreed.

Some Durango srt was behind my tail as i was sipping my drink. He changed lane as he revved and tried to pass me till I gave him the sauce. Though only lasted 4-5 seconds as he was in my rear mirror's and had to take a left to my turn. Couldve lined up with him on the light but would've wasted my gas and my route to home.

These days I just let ''the world'' pass by, clearly they could give a crap about my car compared to their agenda....and usually a ''car guy'' will appreciate a performance car and not crowd your ass driving down a country road..

On a side note I would of had an opportunity to offer my stinger to a buyer........but thankfully it fell thru.

The conditions were nearly perfect. 5:15 in the morning, 48 degrees, a light haze in the air, 4 lanes, a nice quiet intersection, and two cars alone on the road.

I am in my usual auto-pilot mode while driving to work when I notice headlights behind me from the last intersection pushing pretty close to me off of the green. Once the road opened up into 2 lanes in our direction, he switched and pulled up next to me at a red light. I looked over, noticed a Model Y, kinda shrugged it off paying more attention to Alice in Chains on the radio than to my new neighbor. Teslas do not excite me; this morning I feel like the man in the box.

He fires off of that light pretty quick as I roll forward in my normal morning commute auto-pilot fashion; my takeoff is barely building RPMs or boost in Eco mode. I think... maybe... does he want to play?

As luck would have it, we paired up at the next light. This time I had a better idea what was on his mind. Not affording me the time to flip to Sport from Eco or set the AutoHold, the green light surprises me. He gets the jump. I am a bit surprised by how quickly he takes off (standard Y runs 0-60 in ~3.5s). Naturally, he has a bit of a lead since I am late to the party. Gas mashed, eyes forward, wide open road, no traffic. Yes. Turbos kick in and I reel him in pretty quickly. I surprise him and he must have been less than full throttle as once I pulled about 4' ahead, that is all the space he gives me. 50. 60. 70. 80. 90. Two cars locked in sync as the world flies by. We both back down at nearly the same time (considering the speed limit was 65 on that lonely road in Mexico at 5ish in the morning) and we finish with my maintaining the 4' mini-lead.

A friendly wave to each other and my day continues. A satisfied driver and wearing a grin of exhilaration given the Kia hot rod's performance in taking down an EV.

"I pass fast, I do not race": but, I do not hold the rest of mankind to the same standard. :D

All I know I can contribute is I was speeding down I-5 from Northern California with a Chevy Tahoe and some other regular ass traffic vehicle. Once the road was wide open, I slowly accelerate to pass, only to find the Tahoe on my ass. So I did what I do best: I gunned it without shifting up from 4th, so the Tahoe was on my ass the entire time.

PS: After letting the Tahoe go ahead of me, I observed her (female driver) erratic driving behavior, swerving back and forth as if in a tight slalom course, before cutting people off
PSS: I gunned it without shifting once before, when I was trying to follow a Mustang GT...

I had the chance to race a 2016-2018 Nissan Maxima earlier today. They come with a NA V6 with 300 hp, and I beat it with my 255 hp Stinger from about 20 mph (30 km/h) until we stopped when I reached around 105 mph (170 km/h).

In late 2020, a friend with a 2010 Maxima (V6 with 290 hp) made fun of my car for being a four-cylinder Kia. I told him to race me, and he kept bragging that he would easily walk me. We did around six roll races and two dig races, and I beat him in all of them. I easily destroyed the Maxima with a set of worn tires in the dig races, as I just kept spinning around. The difference was huge from a stop. I started with a full tank and ended with a half tank; It was worth it.

I also had two ~250 lb (113 kg) passengers with me, while the Maxima only had one passenger that weighed like 170 lb (77 kg). The roll races were from 50 mph (80 km/h), and I was in second gear for all the roll races. In all of the races, I reached around 145 mph (235 km/h).

Ill put this here because its not thread worthy.
I was headed home last night had the cruise control on. 75 in a 70 and no traffic behind and some in front.

Then a pair of headlights start racing up behind. It was a homda accord and a newer E350 mercedes.

I waited till they got to me to floor it and i caught them in a few seconds. Never got 2 car lengths behind hahaha

Bassicly there is 'normal' car vs stinger. Normal car full clip (maybe 110 when they passed) and its not a contest.

Best part is that i could do the same and a hellcat would catch similarly...

That is all.

I swear these cars seem to scream "I want to race you" to other drivers. Yesterday I was driving to/from some stores. First someone in a focus thinks I'm racing him, while I'm in eco mode, and barely pressing the gas. After about 5 or so yards from the light all of the sudden I can hear him gun it as he just barely passes when I pull into a turn lane. Literally not even a mile later I'm at a red light and this jeep just suddenly floors it off the light. We both catch the next light. This time I was ready. Needless to say he didn't have a chance. Also, what is it with teenagers in Camrys?

I wish folks would race me all the time but no one in my area has not seen stinger race videos and most will not race period.... sadness...

I test drove a buddy's 2018 AWD GT2, we just were going out for lunch. On the way back on a "safe" road, a Nissan 350-370 (or what ever they are called now) wanted to race from a roll. We did and I won. He wanted to race again, I said no, would not change anything and I dont want a ticket.

By the way, that test drive is what got me to thinking of getting a Stinger.

A lot of people here want to race. Most of them are ricers lol. I think my best wins were vs an older m3, some v8 non supercharged challenger, and a Tesla model 3 non performance. Oh some modded out Acura TL was really trying to show the world he got some power. Once I gave him the sauce he took a side street in shame lol.

The lovely bride and I are taking sis out for a b- day lunch the other day. We’re in our Wednesday’s best, dog on board about a block from home and get the red. It’s a two into one after about 150 yrds or so then to a slight bend then a good flat straight for a mile or so on good road. So anyway this Audi Q something or other pulls up on my right and helps himself to a car length head start sitting in the cross walk waiting for the imminent green. Well I says to myself “I don’t thing so”. Light goes green I give it a pretty good shot and jump about two car lengths ahead. I think “this isn’t fair” so I totally let off and as he gets beside me I can hear he’s winding er up pretty good. I hammered it and left him so far behind he shut er down so much I couldn’t even see him in my rearview. The bride gave a glance, I smiled and said “God I love this car, ya thought about what you’re having for lunch”?
