Kia Stinger U.S. sales numbers

Also "new model year"-itus, when last years leftovers often get discounted..

They seem to be selling a little more in my area. I still have only seen 3 on the road, but the dealer inventory has been changing more.

I haven't seen another one in my area, yet. I do like the period of time where it's such a novelty that you get a LOT of long looks. I had an older gentleman in the grocery store parking lot smiling and admiring mine, I smiled back and we talked briefly. He didn't really know what a "Kia" was. He loved the look of the car though.

Ya know it's kinda crazy how clueless people can be about cars in general. As enthusiasts, we know every detail and obsess over minutia but you talk to someone who doesn't care and you can see their eyes glaze over...
That's when I stop and talk about puppies.

So let's say 1500/month equals 18k cars on american roads in the first year, right? Fun fact: the 1964.5 mustang hit 121,538 units in its first half year! 607,568 units sold in 66, the end of the first gen run. In 1967, the Camaro bit into the Mustangs market share and sold 161,250 units in its first year. My point is; even if they sell 25k units in 2018, it is, and will remain a pretty rare car. I kinda hope it stays that way;)

I'm trying to find out how many 2018 model year GTs were imported to the U.S. Not much info out there.

I live in L.A. area and haven't seen another Stinger of any kind on the streets in the 3 weeks since I bought the car. Rare is good.

Yes I've been curious too. Haven't seen the update lately. I am not seeing nearly as many as I expected to see!

Kia posts the monthly sales updates on their website on the first business day of each month.

Just Google "Kia media USA" and you guys should be able to find it.

So far, 8,638 sold in 2018 and 843 for Nov-Dec 2017, for a total of 9481.

Wow, that works out to be almost exactly the same production numbers as the 240Z in 1970, at roughly 16,250 US units. Meaning the Stinger might be more rare based on population. Hmmm, now I kinda want a 1970 240Z!

Kia Stinger U.S Sales figures (Source CARSALESBASE.COM). Slightly increasing month to month. Will be interesting to see how March plays out and through 2018. Any thoughts? Anyone getting theirs this month?

This predates my Stinger purchase by only two days. So I have to point that out, belatedly.

US sales are more than total world sales, during the same period as the Stinger has been selling in the US. It looks like over 12K Stingers have been sold so far during that same time.

I still haven't seen any in my travels. Until @BlaydeX15 point them out, I didn't know of any other Utah Stingers other than himself, on this forum. There are six of us.

I think I've ask this before but what number would be consider success by year end?

I don't think you'll find that anywhere..

I think it's already a success. It got the attention Kia wants. The negative is enormously outweighed by the positive attention. They are going into 2019 with momentum. I don't expect the total sales to rival more common utility vehicles: SUVs in particular; but also sedans like the Optima. The Stinger will never appeal to that large of customer base. But it will be seen and recognized, all to Kia's advantage. That's the near future as I anticipate it.

If September typically starts the new model year, then this month is going to be the month to close out the year. Granted it didn’t start selling until around November/December in the US so it will be a short year. I’m hoping the 2019s are here already, just waiting to be shipped to dealers from port to avoid any new import tax the government will impose.

Reports posted elsewhere said they would only start building them late this month..
