Kia Stinger rims

Holy crap! I think I'll just steer wide of curbs, as I've been successfully doing for several weeks now. I've found that backing into end parking stalls is very effective and safe. The car's rear view camera is first rate, plus the downward tilting mirrors, and together provides better visibility while parking than looking forward!

Parking assist also helps, I'm very concerned with the from spoiler being so low. Those cement bumpers are high most of the time. Also, have you noticed the front screen when the beeping starts. Give you a good idea as to how close you are coming.

The beeping won't save me when I scrap along the side of a curb. I have no side sensors, only fore and aft. I've just had a challenging time learning the space this car occupies! I'm used to decades of driving vans, which are the easiest things to see out of. Well, unless you are backing up in a 15 passenger Club wagon! But I never once even bumped into anything backing out in that beast. Or scraped a curb, ever. That is known as irony.

Tires tend to be higher on a van protecting the wheel.

Nevertheless, my wife managed to ding one of my cool rims on my Voyager. I never did. Some memories die hard.

All you all make it sound/look so easy.

You have a point. Oftentimes you see a product and the installation instructions are rather rudimentary. But that does not mean you have to look over the installers shoulder in order to learn.
If you have paint tape used successfully and are able to follow and tape a given line cleanly, you can do this one.

This is how I did it:
Because the material comes coiled up, I wanted to straighten and relax it first.
For 19” wheels, I cut 4 pieces of 165cm/65” length.
Taped the pieces to some suitable wood trim pieces with blue painter’s tape.
Put it in a warm place for a few days, until considered ready for installation.
When ready I wiped the rims with isopropyl alcohol and followed that with a wipe of 3M Adhesion Promoter #06396. I got a box of this stuff from an automotive supply house. Maybe a body shop will sell a couple of pouches. One pouch should suffice, two is plenty.

I started by undercutting the starting end at an angle.
Then observing and following the machining ridges on the rim, I touched down the end and continued by pressing the remaining material without stretching it onto the rim following the same ridge on the rim previously selected.
I found it convenient to apply the rim protector counter-clockwise.
When I reached the starting point I eased up on sticking down and measured to the opposite end, cutting it about 1mmm / 1/32” longer maintaining the same angle.
I then lifted the loose end under the starting end and massage the material down onto the rim.
I had a metal roller handy, which I used pressing down on the material, avoiding any stretch, following up with a rub down using a microfiber cloth.

I invested in a cheap floor jack and air pump long ago. First time I installed these rings, I had Discount Tire do it. After that I replaced one of mine, due to damage, no damage to the wheel, and installed 4 on a neighbor's car. Also installed 2 damaged on her car after the first 4. You can purchase as many as you need for replacements if you can't stay away from the curbs. Again no damage to the wheels.
How much did Discount Tire charge for the install. I was going to call around. Thanks!

Looks like a lot of work. You'd have to be "into" this. Thanks for sharing, in detail.

$20, $5 per wheel.
Thanks, that’s a done deal then. I don’t want the glue on. I saw a story on what I fear. It slowly comes loose then starts slapping the car damaging the paint. This one should stay put.
