Stinger model- GT2
Hatch noise- Yes
If yes- has your dealer worked on it? Yes
If worked on- is the noise fixed? No
That’s not true. There are 2 service bulletins on it with a fix.The mechanics at Kia dealer told me Kia don’t know how to fix the problem.
..............really ?? need to hear more details about this one Carlos ....................I hire a lawyer and I got 4000 dollars compensation n they going to send and ingenier from Kia motors just to check on my car. I hope he can fix my car because that noice is getting worse and worse
Just applied the extra washers and it seems to be fine now ....................when the sunroof gets replaced hopefully thats the end of this issue !get the washers from a hardware store and do it yourself , ( after the dealer does the fix , which wont fix it ! )
It's weird cause when I took my car for a test drive, the salesman had me go over large bumps, railroad tracks, etc. No noises at all. I would have insisted on that kind of drive (based on people's comments) if he hadn't already guided us to do so. He also told me the light grey seats lends itself to staining if not treated with a protectorant. It's like they made sure everything was fixed, if it needed to be, before they sold it. And they didnt even guide me to one car. After the test drive, they were like pick whichever one you want and if it's not the one we test drove, we can go out again.Just got 2019 Premium, and it has the clunk when going over sharp bumps. I plan to point it out to the dealer when I go in for service. It's not a huge problem to me.
answer ; NFW ! take it to the national level to keep the pressure on finding a permanent fix
Can you add a checkbox for: I fixed it my damned self.I just added a poll to this discussion - in essence making it a survey... The survey is multiple choice. This is the first time I've used this feature so let's see how it works out. I can add more options if need be.
Do we want to ask if the survey taker has a GT or non-GT? Does that matter? Let me know. If so I'll add it...

Youre missing the point , their fix , doesnt fix it !While I really (REALLY) do appreciate folks who work on their own cars this particular shnit show is on Kia. I had a MazdaSpeed 3 that I did a ton of work to but that was all on me to make it more my car. It wasn't a manufacturer F up.
You should wear the dealership out and then escalate it to Corporate Kia for your region. The more people that call Corporate the more likely Kia will take responsibility.
if he was just adjusting the bumpers ...........................well its likely only temporary ( unless you can lock them from winding down , which they do )I did have the problem, but they did fix it. They kept adjusting the hatch until the noise was gone. I took the Technician to a Strip Mull with speed bumps to let them hear it. They kept running it over a speed bump, and adjusting it until the noise was gone. At least that's what they told me. Good luck!
True. It doesn’t work as is and the point is certainly not missed. My point is that someone else in this thread said that after complaining to Corporate they got cash and an engineer to come personally look at the problem. They do this enough they send out a service bulliten that might actually fix it without shims and electrical tape.Youre missing the point , their fix , doesnt fix it !
Thanks , My position was that the noise was bothering me and if they couldnt fix it properly then I was going to because it was really bothering me . This was a HUGE issue from day 1 of ownwership for many of us ( I have the first GT in North America , Canada was shipped first , and being on the West Coast my pre ordered car was on the first shipment ) The owners that were affected by the hatch rattle were very vocal with Kia thus the service bulletin , I had an even bigger issue which was a creaking sound from my sun roof and ticking in my doors , long story short , after proving the issue to my dealer and having a case file openned with Kia Canada , they replaced my entire sunroof frame ( $7000 ) Kia have been responsive to issues identified , it just takes time due to the dealers generally being lazy .....................good luck with your car , once the issues get sorted out , it really is an amazing car .True. I am totally on board with you WestCoastGT! And I am thoroughly impressed that you, not some f’in engineer, was able to get it fixed!
I love modding my rigs but Kia should be made to take responsibility for this fix.
Hell, my car sat in the sun all day with no clicks (thermal expansion?). In the garage for an hour then took the kids to get ice cream and click clicked the whole way there!
I’ll see what the rep says then probably reread your posts and fix it myself if I can’t get a real fix or into and newer car.
