Kia Stinger GT2 Demo Price

Hey guys I need some help negotiating a fair offer price for a demoed GT2 with 3,500 miles on it. What would be a good asking price before lease incentives.

You didn't say the year. I would expect a couple thousand lower at the very least for a MY18. Low miles is of course the priority. But sitting around for over a year with low miles has to be a better deal for you than a MY19 that is being demoed out. Low 40s should be a ballpark selling price OTD for a MY18, so upper 30s before adding back on the OTD stuff.

Thanks for the reply man. It’s a model year 2019 RWDand they’re selling it to me for 45,000. However my payments are 615 and no way does there calculations add up. GA sales tax.

total cap cost then jumped to 49,899 didn't understand that? Taxes maybe but in Georgia you pay taxes on just the leased amount.

My friend paid 150 in Oregon. The least I have seen, more than 1000 is new to me as well.

I got curious and went and looked at mine: doc fee = $299.50.
Dealers can keep anything they peel away from the Kia lease incentive. By the time "my" dealer was done, we had c. $1,200 of the $5,900 left. Had I been lease savvy (instead of a complete rube: this is my first brand new car and I've never leased anything in my life till the Stinger), I'd have looked for all the little (asserted) costs that they were adding back in to increase their profit. Still, when all was said and done and signed for, the OTD price was okay: I wasn't there to make a killer deal: I was there to get a Stinger without hassle or bad feelings. And I got what I went for at a price I knew was fair.

Merlin to me 299 seems more like a fair price. It seems to me like they maybe padding the book more to get some of that lease cash back. Every time I try and negotiate this with this they say this is the lowest they can go and the "numbers are the numbers". Where do you go from here with negotiations. The car is in Florida and I live in Georgia about 30 minutes from the dealerships but I do not pay taxes in both Florida and Georgia do I? I plan on going down there today and speaking with them, how should I approach this?

You pay taxes based on where you live. If the dealer is not set up to collect for your state, you will have receive registration paperwork to take to the DMV and pay them in-person. That also means you pay them in a lump sum, instead of having it bundled into the lease.

I know that @Sanjay R came to SLC from Cali and bought from Jerry Seiner and then drove back to Cali in his brand new Stinger (last year). It was a seamless experience. He said nothing about double taxes. So I don't think that you have to worry about that, at least. I could see some added on fee by either or both GA/FL; e.g. sales tax in FL; but what could GA charge above licensing and registration?

I guess you could mention your discussions on the Stinger Forum: how $150 and $299 are typical Doc Fee elsewhere, so why are they charging you so much? You could shop around and see what other dealer Doc Fees are. $1000+ is ridiculous. Glad that @Ruturaj saw that: I was just looking at the final price you posted.

Try through Costco. Expect to get 4-5k off of MSRP on that quote with documentation fee on there. Then negotiate with this dealer to give more discount on demo model (if you still want to go with demo model).

With taxes and fees I lost around 1.6k as well. Some dealer put lease fee in there as well and most put it in to capitalized cost.

This is what the salesman just said about Doc fee. Quote "It’s normal for this area. The other guys have addendums. They mark the car up 5000-8000 so they charge a little doc fee and say you are “saving” money with them. Doc fee everyone pays the same. I paid the same price of the Doc fee when I bought mine
