Drag/Acceleration Kia Stinger 1/4 Mile Times

I bet there is another 20 to 25 horsepower up top with his tune. He is still tapper up top with boost, if I can maintain that boost at 20 to 21 psi, I bet we can hit 11.4. Also, I have not fixed the throttle lag at launch. When the throttle lag is addressed, I bet we can drop .1 off his 60 ft time. It will be exciting to see just how far into the 11's we can push a non methanol injected Stinger on pump gas :)
I'll try some 94 octane e15 next. Vs my 92 octane pure gas. If my fuel is at its limits it may suck. If not it may like the extra octane.

Just remember, more ethanol = more fuel volume needed to maintain the same AFR.

Set a few new forum records today.
11.66 1/4 at 119.71
7.56 1/8th at 95.13
0-60 7.73
Not records, but also hit my first 120 mph trap and did a 10.08 60-130 for the roll racers.
Changes are 23 lb wheels and midpipe (secondary cat delete). Most the gains were from the wheels. Before and after 0-60 testing showed 0 gain for the pipes.
Temp was 31 degrees and 300 foot elevation.

Congrats tonka.

No offense to anybody, and I mean this in the most productive way possible, but a 1.85 60ft (Tonkabob's last run) is absolutely terrible. Nothing against Tonka / Tork / etc, it's just where the platform is at right now. When trapping ~120mph I feel like we should be cutting 1.6s with ease. I had a big turbo Audi A4 ~15 years ago which ran 12.7 @ 110 and even that thing cut a 1.7 60ft.

I really hope there is progress on anti-lag soon or this platform may never be taken seriously for 1/4 mile performance

I have a feeling once the tuners figure out how mess with launch boost, we're going to start seeing driveline failures. There's a reason the launch control is so underwhelming.

Who's gonna be the first with a built trans? o_O

The first person to blow one up most likely.

I know, that's why it may suck. I'm mixing 92 pure with a little E85 to keep the E down as much as possible. E15, 94 octane. Seems people are running E30 ok and making 450 HP. E15 should work.

Do you have a VP near you? If so get you a 5 gallon pail of MS109 and have at it.

.

How much progress have you made on power output since the pulls back in early Jan?

Cheers!
Not sure, not much more HP i don't think. Dec 31st ran 11.89 and later that day got a tune update and ran 11.78 the next day on January 1st.
Another tune update on 1-13 but seemed on par with the Jan 1st tune but shifted better.
Added wheels and midpipe. Seems the wheels did the most. Before and after mid pipe 0-60 taken on the same day same spot was 3.89. (ran a 3.73 this morning with cooler temps, less gas, no spare) Wheels appear to have knocked off a tenth 0-60.

There is 100 octane at the track but 10-11$ per gallon. And its supposed to take 100 miles to adjust to the octane. ching ching $$$

Then I guess you gotta get the 54 gallon drum for $945

While I think it's amazing what is being accomplished with regards to 1/4 mile times, I've never taken this car seriously as a 1/4 mile contender. If I were to build a serious drag car, I wouldn't be starting with a Stinger - the weight alone puts it at a serious disadvantage.

the question is, how long before launch control and the tcu are tuned, how long before someone blows up their trans, then how long before someone actually starts making parts to beef it up. It might take a few years.

And here is the log for the 11.66 run.
Gotta love that FMIC - i started with no heat soak (no sitting, 60 MPH cruise before hand) 60 IAT at the start and finished the run slightly cooler. Gonna miss these intake temps at the track!

Why would we assume stuff is going to start breaking when the car actually launches decently? I mean 1.7xx 60 is not newspaper worthy. It feels great don’t get me wrong. But I just don’t understand the thought processes in this arena from time to time. 118-120 trap speed is good for 11.3x-11.6x all day. This kind of stuff makes the rs3 very tempting. But it does all the things that the stinger is used for daily not nearly as well. Sorry I just felt like bitching and moaning today. Ahhh

And that's what had me looking at the slightly used RS7's. Low 3's to 60 and 10's in the 1/4 with a tune and zero hardware mods. Sure, it costs a lot more, but it lives on pump gas and just plain works without any drama. If I could get most of the way there with the Stinger and some clever tune/mods, I'd be a happy camper, but that doesn't appear to be readily available today.

Cheers!

As a former Audi b8.5 s4 stg2 and s6 owner, I can tell you that you'd be killing yourself in maintenance alone not including insurance etc...RS cars are on a different level for several reasons and those factors are just a few.

PS. depreciation is about the worst I've seen aside from range rovers and 750bmw.

My Dad and I got a 750 bmw for 500 bucks one time. Only half the engine ran and we had to run a coat hanger to the throttle to drive it home. Never did get it to run right.
