Drag/Acceleration Kia Stinger 1/4 Mile Times

LAP3 bragged on Instagram yesterday about having the fastest 1/4 mile time for an AWD Stinger.

The car in question ran 12:13 @ 116.7 with FULL boltons and Pro-Tuner.

I couldn't help but to chuckle a bit, since that run is number 7 on this list.

@Tonkabob Why am I not on this list ? I got 12.3 at the Track........All I see is draggy times except like maybe 2 people in there?? WTF is going on?

Our 7, 8 and 9 are all 12.13s. But to be fair we are very dragy heavy especially with the AWDs. But lap3 is .35 off the best dragy.
@Michael Locke you have been doing dragy and strip runs, what is your take on the difference given slope, temps, heat soak?

Limiting this list to the top 10 is so short-sighted. I proposed / made a Google spreadsheet to track so we aren't limited to space but nobody seems to care. Maybe I should make a separate thread since this one makes it literally impossible to find the list of times (historically)

The slowest time is 12.17 and we only have top 10. Go faster dude.
I am thinking of splitting dragy and slips come spring when the tracks reopen. Top 10 for each?
I figure dragy has to have a .1 advantage or more making runs at night when cold and making runs with zero heat soak.
I felt my intakes and ic pipe before a dragy run and it was literally ice cold.

I agree. I'm never going to make the top 10, but I would like to compare my mods to others with similar and see their times.

The face book 1/4 mile list has no limits, 17 entries currently.
This format makes it hard to manage big lists and if we link off to a onedrive doc or xls usability and participation may drop off.
I could move to xls and paste the image in the forum.

Not to seem like the maniac of the group but i think i already have that title by default...I agree with you we should make a spreadsheet ....one tab draggy and another tab track....that would be very informative and fair for everyone.....

@Tonkabob what you think about the google doc? have one tab draggy and one track....I like that idea

Agreed!

The existing 'top 10' format is great - it keeps it interesting, and is an incentive to others to go faster. I keep checking in to see how folks are doing and with what mods, even though our (unadjusted) altitude makes it highly unlikely I'll ever be an active participant. If people want to see a historical record, then by all means start another thread - don't turn this one into an encyclopedia.

Good job, Tonkabob - thanks for all the effort you've put into this!

I concur. There's nothing wrong with the current format.

But inclusion is quite a drug and some folks have a difficult time being left out.

Little Bobby: No one picked me to play on their kickball team.
Kickball coach: Well Little Bobby, that's because you suck!
Little Bobby's mom: Maybe the teams should be bigger, coach.
Kickball coach: Maybe Little Bobby shouldn't be an uncoordinated, fat, turd.
Little Bobby: I still get a trophy for trying though, right coach?

Just wondering what's going on with these logs? Did 3 runs tonight. First was map 3 bogged out.. 13.5. Second ran map 2. 12.78 3rd map 3 bogged out again.. 13.5.. here are the runs.

I don't always check these threads, so for support help just post logs here: Kia & Hyundai JB4 - N54Tech.com - International Turbo Racing Discussion

On the AWD launch bog though I've seen that before when it spins off the line, and when the trans fluid isn't hot enough. Any correlation?

Ok ill keep as is for now and Branky can mirror and make the list in his google doc if he wants.

Whats the interest in top 10 dragy top 10 slip in split lists? Some people will be in both lists but will show the difference for those who can only do one or the other. Also get coverage for a few more cars.

Hey come on man this was not a shot at you ... lol I know you only in that list because of the draggy lol .... I just think A dual list would be cool those on with draggy would go for a best draggy times and those with track times would try to go for best track times ... that’s all I don’t understand weather and altitude would make a difference but we would a draggy side and a track side ... everyone is satisfied...

Yeah I like that some would be on 2 list but different places on the list ... so I think it would be cool ... like you think you would be on top on draggy and maybe someone like 2 or 4 on track ... Tork would be 1 on track I beleive ...

Start the spreadsheet and load the google doc here ... make a draggy tab and 1/4 mile ...

According to any head-to-head tests that I've seen with track timing, the Dragy is deadly accurate - much more so than the time differences that would occur from running at one track vs. another. Unless evidence arises to the contrary, I don't see a need to split them.

My 2 cents. The spreadsheet is by far the best idea if anyone is willing to upkeep it. You can have even have 3 tabs extremely easily. Dragy, Track, combined. It will autosort itself and have unlimited entires. You could even compare mods with yes/no boxes and filter.

I think dragy is accurate but you cant have free reign at a track to run at 32 degrees with no wait time and a .99% down slope. My draggy intake temps have to be 20-30 if not more cooler for the same ambient temp. Only one way to find out.
@Michael Locke ran 12.07 dragy and 12.17 and low 12.2s on the track so wanted to hear is commentary on that.
There is a chance Terry won't be able to hit 11s on the track then we have a whole new pissing match comming! But with improved traction he could kill it. Who knows.
Should be seeing some dragy times from Tork very soon so competition should heat up.

Who will step up and create the xls? Only 1500 posts to wade through. ☺ Or make it self service. I'll keep this thread and the 0-60 thread rolling on pretty much as is.
