Kia Currently on the Nurburgring!!

Lump me in with James May on this one. The Stinger is supposed to be a comfortable grand tourer (hence the GT). Worrying about track performance, especially Nurburgring times just results in the car having the same merciless, uncomfortable suspension that every other hardened sports car has and generally leaves it pretty uncomfortable for roads that have any sort of imperfections. I really wish auto makers would stop worrying about the Ring. Save yourself tons of engineering expenses and replace the shocks with solid concrete if it's that important to you.

Well said, hej. The fascination with the 'ring is ridiculous. Making a car which handles well, is comfortable for long distance and daily driving, and is reliable for the long term ownership will be the winning points. Perhaps Kia can make a track package as an option as BMW does.

Yeah but if you've got squishy comfortable suspension then the car doesn't handle well. I'm sure they've struck a nice balance between performance and daily drivability. With the car being four thousand pounds I'm not expecting some incredible ring time anyway, but it'd be nice to know where it ranks among other similar vehicles.

I guess I just completely forgot about that part. I've got 3-mode suspension on my old Corvette and it's really handy. Is the adjustable suspension on the Stinger tied directly to the transmission changes in the "Driving Modes" or is it independent? As in, if I put it in sport mode will that adjust the suspension and transmission together?

I believe everything is independent... so like you can have the engine in sport, the trans in Eco, and the suspension in comfort

What gets adjusted with the engine? The point at which the turbos spool up? There's no cylinder deactivation is there? That'd be handy for my boring work commute but I don't know many V6's that deactivate 2 cylinders. Normally it's V8's deactivating 4 right?

not alot but here's a video

Track test it's important as handling on curves is for a long ride !! Plus adjustable suspension make two cars in one !!!

In my experience, adjustable suspensions usually don't change the behavior of the car all that much. To me the difference in settings is usually subtle at best.

They write that all will be revealed on Monday as mentioned above by David.
I look forward to hearing what they have to say. We should be able to get a general feel once we put all the different press opinions together.

my fiance has a mini and the notice is definitely noticeable between modes in her car. eco is quite sluggish with acceleration and it shifts early. "mid" is pretty normal. but sport tightens up the steering and it holds the gears longer in normal driving. the car will actually downshift on the highway when i change it from mid to sport.

My car only has 3 settings, and while 1-2 and 2-3 could be called subtle, if you go straight from 1-3 it's very obvious what's changed. I definitely don't enjoy going over rougher roads in the performance setting. Does anyone know how many settings the Stinger's suspension will have? I have no intention of tracking it but if there's a super tight performance mode it might be fun in areas where I know the twisty roads are well paved.

I was referring to the suspension settings.
