Just got this installed: Ultimate Performance HFC Downpipe + Mid Pipe

Not doubting its a pain...but 19 hours?? I could clear the entire engine bay in that amount of time lol. Yeah the only way I'm going to touch them is if I do no cats. Supposedly the turbos smoke if there's no cats so I might be done with exhaust. I dont understand the turbos smoking. Ran 3.5 inch on my Evo with no cats and if it ever smoked it was very minimal (unless something catastrophically broke)due to condensation.

Where have you heard that the turbos smoke?

Is this good or bad? lol
bad, with no cats the turbine doesn't get as much force pushing it against the seal. So you may burn oil on deceleration. Unless you want a smokescreen, it's not good. And it smells. Basically remove anything except the primaries/down pipes/pre cats. If you do remove them then get ones with some sort of restriction. Or contact Tork, he states that his tune can fix the oil burn issue.

It was tork that told me this wasn't worth the price and would take about 19 hours to install. lol they didn't say it would smoke though.

I purchased the ultimate performance high flow cat Plus downpipe combo from khartunerz.com , I found a performance shop to install them for me, I was quoted $475, I have an appointment next week for the install

I had my ultimate performance high flow cat downpipe combos installed, Dyno before and after, yes they were a pain to install, about 12 hours total including fixing broken stud, they are awesome love the sounddynorunShare_0.webp

I see now what Torq motors meant by not a lot of HP gain for the cost and pain of install

Yeah he wasn't far off with his numbers, I didn't do it for just horsepower and torque gains alone, really just wanted to loud pipes and free flowing exhaust which is exactly what I got

Did you happen to reset your ecu by unplugging the battery? Our ecu is a notoriously slow learner, I wonder if you would have gotten better results with an ecu reset or by waiting a few weeks before getting back on the dyno.

No I did not reset the ECU nor did I ask if it was reset during the repair, the work was done by Modified by KC, they're basically the only one around with a all-wheel drive dyno, they did not charge any extra for repairing the notorious broken stud on the turbo, I definitely recommend this shop to anyone,, I do agree my borla exhaust started sounding better and better as time went on, with these pipes and borla Cat-Back this thing is loud

How did your install go? Any problems getting the bolts off the turbo studs?

bolts off the turbos was actually not as bad as I thought it would be .. it was the O2 sensors .. I had a hard time mostly because I did it by myself, and it did take the whole 19 hours. The secondaries are a nightmare and I decided to leave them attached to the car and get them back on once I reattached the pipes to the turbos .. that was a bad idea so I had to take them off again and then unhook the sensor from the car and do everything again.

What type of cat back exhaust did you Bolt the downpipe combo up to, mine is borla, it's very loud now which I am enjoying I do like the sound unfortunately I was only able to drive it for about a week and a half until I hit something on the highway and damaged my front end car has been in the shop for 3 weeks now

I have a stock exhaust currently waiting for quicksilver to finish doing what they’re doing but I paid in full for their exhaust.

Any advice on how to get the downpipe off the driver side? Was anything other than the heat shield required to be taken off or moved in order to access all the bolts connecting the downpipe to the turbo?

disconnect the computer and you can get the top 2 bolts from engine bay. After you get them off you can actually install all 4 bolts from the top by hand (if they're small enough). I cut my hands up pretty bad doing that and while installing the secondary O2 sensor driver side as well.
