3.3TT Jun Bl EVC Catback Exhaust

I periodically check the actuators to make sure that they are still lined up. Takes about 5 minutes. I get a kick out of everyone say borla, ark and the others are the best, then complain about the drone. Hardly anyone mentions Jun.

hi all, am thinking of pulling the trigger on this. currently have the non evc GT (for about yr and half), but want something quiet for the highways since i also have ssr downpipes and that combo while burbles n crackle every now and then is enjoyable - its a tad loud at times as i am what they call middle aged now
Has anyone living in areas that get snow had issues w actuators? i see some had repeated issues and needed to be replaced, while others havent.. but now that i live in an apt and dont have a garage to work on cars I'm trying to figure out if it will be worth it since i'd probably need to have a shop work on this as i sadly can't work much on my own car in an apt complex garage. how long has it been since actuator failed for guys that have the evc?

There was a bad batch of actuators awhile back but seems like it was was fixed. I've had mine in for almost a year with no problems. Welcome to the few the proud evc group. Still the best sounding exhaust!

canoli - i see you installed it yourself. does the vacuum line run down just 1 side of the car and split up near the exhaust to both? or 1 vacuum line on each side?

I went down the passenger side

thanks for the info. just dropped car off this morning to get the evc axleback installed - hopefully they will give a timing estimate/rate that isn't too bad.
call me old but im looking forward to making it quiet on the highway
that 1500-2000 rpm range with my current setup (downpipes and non evc gt) on long trips has been annoying me the past year and half

Hi guys, just got car back. when the button is in the off position, looks like the left side doesn't open and close. its slightly open whether the button is on or off. right side seems to work ok.
but overall when off, the exhaust note is louder than i would expect
also noticed there was a small rubber tubing and check value the guys at the shop left in my cup holder.
For those that did the install, were you provided with an extra check valve that wasn't needed?
trying to figure out if the install wasn't done right.. or could be a bad actuator on the left side possibly..

pic of the extra part that was in the cupholder + of the install.
i think they did a good job hiding the vacuum lines but not much i can see/tell based on the engine bay view on the install since the manual doesn't list of all the parts, just the install steps
anyone have that same check valve left over from install?

I believe both sides are supposed to fully open and fully close. My Kunstwerk valves fully open and close although when first purchases I had version 1 that had issues. They upgraded me with a new version with 0 issues now for about 9 or 10 months.

hmm bummer. i usually work on all my cars myself but this time decided to pay someone to do it since i'm in an apt now... sucks since i didn't do the install don't really know how to troubleshoot.
For those who mentioned checking the actuator in case its bent... do you need to unbolt the exhaust? any tips on what to check and how would be appreciated
thanks

There should only be 1 check valve. You can troubleshoot the problem by making sure that the actuators move freely. Sounds like one might be binding up.

Thank you all for this thread & all the info in it! I just received my EVC this morning (3 separate boxes, massive), it's all in my garage w/ the Jun B.L downpipes that I've received a few weeks ago too, I cannot wait to install them. My mechanic's on vacation, so I gotta be patient. Torture! LOL.

I noticed a lot of the posts were from 2018, and now that it's literally 2021 tomorrow, should I still worry about the valves? I saw them for sale on eBay, I'm thinking of buying 2-4 spares right now just in case they're impossible to find in the future; but I would be disappointed if Jun B.L didn't fix this by now?

On my end it wasn't the valves. The spring / actuator that opens and shuts was a little bent during shipping and install so was binding. A little minor straightening with pliers solved it

It was the actuators, then. The set I have had been good, no problems. Still I have a couple extra. Still the best sounding exhaust!

I just talked to jun bl. And they said that it would cost 30 for each part and freight. I only asked for two to see the price, and it came out to be 120 dollars. Crazy expensive, but it is coming from Korea. I ather pay 30 and 11 for shipping. Unless someone wants to order a few from them and we can see if the price or shipping is cheaper. Adam, are you able to talk to your guy today? If so, please let us know and we can set something up.
May I ask how you got in touch with them? I have the same problem, but I can't find any kind of support.

Finally, since the closed valves have been repaired, do you have a drone at 2000rpm ?

Since the valves are working properly is it always noisier than you thought the valves were closed?

(google translate sorry )

Looking into this exhaust but noticed they went to electronic controled valves... Any know issues with the new setup..... It would be great not having to run a vacuum line all the way back.
