Today I started to notice surging power that is concerning. I will attach a short video but to explain, it happens around 3-4k rpm under under load. Car is currently on jb4 map 3 with e30 mix, app says 32% ethanol. Other mods include k&n intake & ark grip cat back.
The car has been between map 3 & 5 for 3 gas tanks now. I have only had the tuner for a few weeks but only noticed this surging power today.. maybe it's too hot? Intake temps range from 125 to 135 as ambient temp is 99.. have any of you guys experience this issue? Please feel free to ask me questions as I'm sure I'm missing some valuable trouble shooting info..

I cant seem to upload a video because I dont have an allowed extension?

Boost oscillation has been reported in some driving and modification conditions. It's harmless, but make sure you're running the latest v10 firmware as we did make some changes for that at some point.

This isn’t related to your issue...

How do you know you’re running E32? Do you have the flex fuel sensor? If not, the ethanol reading in the logs is not accurate.

I'll have to check the firmware version agian. Thanks for reassuring comment though I was worried I had caused permanent damage.

I do not have an ethanol sensor, I didn't know the app reading was inaccurate.. I pump when empty 4 gallons e85 and fill up with 91.

Just for example... I run 5.5 gallons of e85 then top with 91. Maybe you just need MOAR ethanol?

Yeah, without an ethanol sensor, and if you haven’t used a ethanol test kit to measure exactly what the content of your e85 is — since it varies, it’s pretty difficult to gauge with a calculator or even using the online calculators because there’s always something in the tank even when you run it down.

The actual ethanol mixture doesn't really matter much. 4-6 gallons of E85 to the rest pump, is generally good enough. All the major systems including fueling and timing are closed loop and will adapt as needed.

I was discussing my issue with my buddy experienced knock reading from his exhaust hitting a crossmember.. a week ago or so i noticed my exhaust it touching the inside of the fake bumper exhaust tips. Could this also be contributing? Since stingers have no flex joints it exhaust could this rattling be picked up?

It's certainly plausible. If logs show timing pull despite having really good octane then I'd look to other explanations.

Do you run e85 blend? How are you messing ethanol percentage, inline gauge?

Wow yeah I'm pumping much less e85 than you.. is there a point where the mixture is too much e85? And cause issues?

I run between E28 - E31. It’s a range because it’s very hard to nail the ethanol content 100%. Some tanks I’m between E28-E29 and others I’m E30-E31. I have a flex fuel sensor to measure the absence of gasoline going to the HPFP.

We could trust the ECU to catch all our mistakes and account for them, but I’d rather do my part to keep things happy. I prefer to not have my ECU adjust for timing and have fuel pressure drops associated with running too much ethanol.

@Terry@BMS need help tried to update my Jb4 it updated but now the car is not starting. Don't know if i got the right one? Before in was running fine.

Shoot him an email — he’ll see an email before he sees a mention on this forum.

Also, reload the firmware again. Try that before emailing just to confirm. It could just be a fluke with the firmware and just needs to be reloaded again.
