I know it is not a full moon, but driving to work this morning my stinger started acting up. I was driving on the interstate about 65mph and pressed the gas to pass someone and the car started shaking and hesitating badly. Every time I would press the gas the car would shake and refuse to go . I got off the interstate and came to a stop and the engine stalled. It started back up but was acting the same. There are no lights on on the dash. I managed to get it to a dealer (not where I bought it), they aren't sure when they can get to it, would not provide me with a rental and they stated they are not offering shuttle service because of COVID. So I was stuck waiting for a ride, I'm really frustrated with the dealer experience, especially on a supposedly premium car with only 10,000 miles.

What year is it? Do you know if you have the one with the Particulate Filter? I'm super curious to find out what the problem is..

No matter what car it is. It is still a Kia. Luxury brand cars will provide you a rental or car ride.

The car is a 2019. I truly believe the loaner car issue is because of the dealer it is at. My nephew has a Niro he takes to the dealer where I bought it and has never had a problem getting a loaner car.

It can't be "limp mode" because that is a deliberate reaction of the car to something wrong, and comes with warning lights. I bet if you kept driving you'd get dash lights soon. Hopefully this is something easy to explain like bad gas or particulates, etc.

I've had numerous issues with my 2.0 - fuel pump, fuel injector, ecu, spark plugs/coils, coolant leaks - all at different times over the nearly 3 years of ownership, some multiple times for the same issue. It even cut off on me in the middle of a busy multilane road and wouldn't restart for more than a few seconds so had to be towed.

My car is actually at the dealership now and will probably be there till next week. My dealer provides a loaner or rental each time, even now with covid, so you should transfer your car to another dealership. Your issue is likely one of the ones I mentioned, hopefully you won't go through the whole spectrum as I did.

Thanks for the info, finally after three days of not even looking at it, I called them and they told me they ordered a fuel pump for it. They also said it is currently back ordered. I am out if town until Tuesday so hopefully they can have it fixed by then.

Everything for our cars must be on back order, I was told I needed a new spark plug and coil and these are on back order too.

I have a set of the HKS that I ran with the RaceChip, but during that time I had the fuel pump and ecu issue so I try to run it as stock as I can, so I don't use the Racechip or pedal tuner now either.

I purchased a Racechip too and had ECU issues, so I returned the device. I was a little pissed as I purchased the HK plugs for the Racechip, and they charged a restocking fee. That ended up as a cost of $250 to test out their faulty equipment.

Update, car is still not fixed. They have replaced the high pressure fuel pump, coil pack, and spark plugs. Nothing has fixed it. They said when they started it, it still sounded like a tractor. They have no idea what is wrong at this point and have called the Kia tech line for help. They had me call Kia customer care to try to get them to authorize a rental for me. Hopefully I will hear something today.

Hate to even add this post but.............................. DON'T OVERLOOK EVEN THE SLIGHTEST ISSUE!!!!!!

Got the news just today that Kia has to replace my engine!!!!!!!!!!!!! had it towed to the dealer yesterday morning with CEL code P0303 (misfire cylinder #3) after testing, no compression on that cylinder.....no explanation as to the cause but a new engine has been ordered none the less. Will have the car at least 2 weeks....they did give me a 2020 Kia Forte to drive in the meantime.......already miss the car. Started a slight sputter that got worse over a 48hr period of time....week and a half prior, had it serviced.....not blaming them. Whatever the main issue, warranty covered it and now have to play the waiting game.....it was the 2.0T

My car may be going the same route as yours. My engine overheated and was idling really rough. They said there was air getting into the cooling system (not from an external leak so somewhere internally) and misfire in cyl #3. They removed air from the cooling system and replaced the spark plug and coil and took it on a test drive and air was still getting into to cooling system so they are in contact with Kia headquarters to see if they have a solution. It's been in the shop a week already and still no definitive diagnosis. I'm ready to trade this car in for something else but who knows when I will get it back.

I feel for you guy.......trust me, i had never owned a Kia but the Stinger did it for me....i will be honest and admit that the "sales trap test drive' got me.....i had planned on looking at the GT but had none on the lot.....i was driving a 2010 nissan sentra at the time (great car - wished i had not traded it in) and i was almost 2yrs removed from being done with child support so the "new" money was burning a hole in my pocket and i went with the 2.0. don't regret the decision.i don't know what the techs checked before making the new engine call but it is covered under warranty so, although heartbroken, i get a new engine. i see you did a lot of custom stuff but mine was completely stock except for K&N air filter......honestly, i don't think the 2.0T was "robust" enough for the Stinger platform....believe the 2.5 coming down the road will do far better........
