2.0T Is it a full moon?

Nope....only thing i have on my car is a K&N panel filter(stock intake, exhaust, etc...) and there were no issues with having it when i took it in for service just a week and a half ago......it's a filter, they can't really say anything about it except that Kia can't sell me one of their $30 paper filters......

Latest update. Well after 16 days at the dealer they called me this afternoon and told me my car will be ready tomorrow. They informed me that they finally got a check engine light for misfires in cylinders 2 and 4. They have now replaced the fuel injectors in both cylinders. I am glad the car is fixed but am really concerned about having these problems at only 10,000 miles. Combine that with dealer experience I am really reconsidering my long term ownership of this car.

good to hear that....unfortunately, mine is still waiting on that engine replacement.......i am at 25,000 miles.

Wait, what was that???? Did someone say "Suuupra"?????

I wish my wife would let me get a supra, unfortunately she said what ever I get has to be able to hold all 4 of us. Looking at the Arteon as an alternative

I saw one yesterday. Only the second one I've seen.

Not a fan of the Arteon but i am "optimistic" for the Stinger and still have the desire to upgrade to the GT. I do like to keep my "options" open which is why i mentioned the Supra but since they are only two seats, i guess you could look at it as "happy wife, happy life".....lol

Hey monusa did you get your car back yet? I have to have my engine replaced as well and was trying to gauge how long it might take. My car has been in the shop 4 weeks already and last I heard they still don't have the engine.

SAME HERE!!!! I was told that they don't have enough people available at the docks (California) to process the shipments coming in from out of the country..........due to COVID!!!!!! Could be that the engines are sitting there just waiting to make their way to the Kia dealers.....

I am not really blaming Kia but what sticks in my craw is the fact that I am still making the payments on a car I can't drive!!!!!!(They gave me a '21 Forte). I asked the service manager if they could just pop in one of the new 2.5T 4cyl instead of the 2.0.....course, he wasn't buying it.... That SUUPRA chant is getting louder everyday. Went and looked at both the 2.0 and the 3.0 but did not take a test drive..... a lot of good stuff on the 2.0. Most say it moves like a V6 instead of a 4cyl......Top speed 155....

I'm guessing there is a backlog with all the new recalls for Kia/Hyundai engines that's not helping our situation. I'm leaning towards trading for something else too, but stuck waiting for who knows how long.

honestly, i don't think the 2.0T was "robust" enough for the Stinger platform...
Nah, I don't think that's the problem. That engine has been used in a whole host of Hyundai/Kia cars and SUVs going back over a decade. Sometimes cars just have bad shit go wrong with them. They're machines. Machines break.

Wasn't meant directly at the "engine replacement"........i think overall, that the Stinger has a certain expected level of performance and at a 3400~3600 lb curb weight, the 2.0 was doing a LOT of work just to get the car going let alone, perform.....the 3.3 is more than adequate to move said weight.....that 2.0 has been in their inventory for quite some time but they needed something to power the Stinger so they could get it to market quick and that was the "low cost" option to use......now had they started out with the 2.5T, that would have been different but then 3.3 sales would have suffered. The "in-house" transmission didn't help either.....a better geared one would have made almost as much difference as upgrading the engine....see said "Supra 2.0". Same HP numbers but a much better transmission and of course a close to 300lb weight reduction doesn't hurt either!!!

I can say my 2.0 has never given me any trouble! It is stock kept for a K&N filter element. It has had all the factory updates but never had any indications the updates were needed. It now has 19K miles and is a 2008 Premium

Good deal and until the major "failure", i had no issues with my 2.0 either. Just feel the more robust 4cyl. should have been the base engine even with the "geared for economy" 8sp transmission.......

UPDATE................I JUST GOT BACK HOME AFTER PICKING UP MY STINGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! brand new engine (block and internals, some hoses, belts). Most everything else attached (turbo, intake, etc. looks like some head work as well) was carried over. Just last week, i was told that the motor had not arrived yet. went through the engine bay with the service manager before leaving the lot. I know it is the 2.0 but this thing feels AMAZING once again.....feel like a kid in a candy shop once again!!! (just a little older....lol).

Anyway, they claim it broke a rod but even though the engine sounded like pure crap, didn't think it would do much of anything with a broken rod?????? Anyway, going to put about 500 miles on it for another "break-in" even though they didn't say it needed it. Just me......As for JB4 hook up......think i will just let her be and enjoy the fact that she is back.......Hmmmmm...we'll see...lol
