Irritating humming noise.

I wonder if it’s drone your hearing for exhaust.

is it possible to take a video of the sound? I can hear a little wind when I drive coming from the driver side passenger area, but it really isn't irritating and I wouldn't call it a humming. Some people are really sensitive to certain frequencies.

all I hear (with mine) is a car driving down the road...doesn't matter what speed.

I'll do that when I have someone else in the car to record. My passengers hear it as well (not my wife, she doesn't pay much attention to things with the car), my buddy commented last week about the "wind buffeting" noise in the car and wondered if it was coming from the hatch. The tech at the dealer told me my door was out of alignment and it was causing the excessive road noise I was hearing when I first got the car. I'm going to visit one of the closer dealers to drive a left over 2018 and a 2019 to see how they sound inside.

The same sound is heard from my driver's door and I concluded the same thing the technician told you about the badly aligned door (based on my previous experience with other cars, with a minimum 2-3 mm is enough to generate that noise). But I did not find a way to align it at the level of the door lock & striker....

This is one of the reasons I was looking in to adding additional seals around the doors and hatch but with the car being so new, I want to give the dealer a chance to get it sorted.

I would appreciate if you told me how they solved this issue......or how did you solve it...

I experience buffeting at well. It isn't as bad as when a window is cracked open, but it is enough to drive me crazy. Mine started when I got the car back from the body shop with both passenger side doors replaced. I noticed a few days ago that the rear passenger door is a millimeter or two not flush with the quarter panel. I'm going to see if the body shop can adjust the door to see if it helps. It's irritating me enough that I started thinking about trading for a 2019 or looking at a G70, whereas my wife can't hear it and thinks I'm nuts.

My buffeting issue haven't been brought to the dealer yet and is still ongoing. As far as the excessive road noise, he just said the door was out of alignment and he adjusted it. That noise was there from the beginning but was worse with the excessive road noise, it has lessened now which is leading me to believe it might also be something with the doors..

LOL! I hear you on the wife not hearing it thing! So this seems like a thing we need to have looked into as it makes an otherwise great car annoying. Like you I started thinking about looking at a 2019 to see if they are possible better sealed. Maybe this is telling me I should have waited for the 2019 K900. Although if I drive one and love it and they are offering a great deal on one and there are still niggling issues, I just might make the switch.

This morning I took a slower route due to traffic backups and I experienced it for an extended period. The humming, buffeting or whatever you call that sound was present and I did feel it in my ears. It wasn't the audio system, nor the ac system, turned both off to eliminate them. It hasn't been factually proven the car has any noise cancellation system built in so I can't say this places a role. The sound was certainly present from 35 mph up to 48 mph this morning. I think I felt it more as I think I'm getting a cold so the sinuses are a bit blocked. I'm going to take it in to be checked.

I did notice with the doors open their is a foam filled insert behind the hinges with a huge void behind it. I pulled it back and shoved some extra pieces of foam behind it which I think has made it a bit quieter but need to find something more substantial to put there.

Finally picked up the car last Friday and straight away had a rattle over the driver door which is being seen to on Monday(Temporarily fixed by wedging a thick piece of card in the rubber seal) but the thing that is annoying me most is while driving I have a noise which I can only compare to the sound of somebody blowing over the top of an open glass bottle. It's constant and I can feel it in my left inner ear which still feels like it needs to pop now an hour after getting out of the car it's like temporary tinnitus.
We're taking another stinger out on Monday to see if it still makes the same noise. My partner says she can hear it as a hum but everybody perceives sound differently, wonder if anybody else experiences it.
It's certainly not something I can live with for 3 years.

Hey Mate, I have been told by A service technician that that sound is what the diff makes when there is a Problem ,,maybe need diff oil replaced and not the whole thing as there have been reports of issues with the diff probs... fingers crossed its nothing serious..
I to have a couple of issues with my GT.. Slight Sunroof creaking/rattle over certain bumps and the other issue is a whirring noise that seems to be Accelerater related??? , mainly in low gear ratios.. I am taking it in in 2 days for Sunroof issue which they think they have a fix for but I am concerned they will do more harm then good when removing the the roof lining??..
fingers crossed it will be ok ..

Wait, is this the sound which comes when the ventilated cooled seats are on? Turn that off and see if it goes away.
The clue for me was that you said it comes near your ear which is where I heard it too.

No ,,,, The noise is there no matter what ... Its definitely something to do with engine/transmission?

No, Definitely there no matter what ,, If I tap on accelerator on & off it makes the sound with it ?.. but noticed that if I shift into neutral the noise goes away?..

The noise I was experiencing was certainly some sort of wind buffering inside the vehicle. Once when I was coming down with a cold, I got some serious ear ache from it as I was driving on a low speed road for a long time. Never did figure out what the issue was as the car got wrecked but the 2019 I got as a replacement does not have this issue.

There has been quite a few reports of what your technician has said, some here have had their diff oil replacing , sounds like it could be this.

As for the cooling seats making a noise ????

Hi mate
Sunroof issue is a know issue by Kia. HAd creaking in mine also - its lack of silicon in sunroof. Takes a day to fix but there is a service bulletin on it. I had mine done - over bumps or when it was hot outside, sunroof would creak - its basically flexing where it shouldn't as there should be sound deadening silicon applied like a sewing machine - not spaced apart 6 or 8 inches with just small dobs. cheers
