Interesting Discoveries Thread (Good or Bad)

140, so I've read. All the A/S equipped Stingers in all trims are limited to 140. That's because Kia put Michelin Pilot Sports on the 19" rims (rated at over 186 MPH), and thus limited the speed to 167; whereas the A/S are Bridgestones (rated at 150) on 18" rims.
Well the rims on the pic are the same as the 19’s here in Australia, the 18’s have a different pattern so I assumed he had Bridgestones on the staggered 19’s

True! Those are GT rims. But the pattern isn't indicative of 19s or 18s; apparently the GT patterned rim comes in both. The naked eye can't tell a 19 from an 18. Or a staggered from a squared setup.

Not here it doesn’t, they are the GT rims and only available stock in staggered 19’s. The 330S and 330Si come as stock 18’s and have a completely different pattern on the rims.

I have no idea why they called them GT, GT1, & GT2 in US & Canada, it’s too bloody confusing.

So to summarise the GT in Australia is what you Yanks and Canucks would call GT2 and it only comes in 19’s

Well, yes. But you don't get A/S tires at all, do you? Do you know anyone Down There who even has a 2.0T?

No we don’t need all season tyres, there’s only a few places where it snows. As for the 2.0T no I don’t know anyone who has one personally, but to be fair I don’t know any other Stinger owners personally either. The 2L turbo isn’t selling well here as most people go for the 3.3TT.

Here's a fun lil' factoid,I noticed I catch up to civilian life a lot quicker in this car, just like my Harley!!
By civilian, I mean the general populace that drive their crappy handling cars and putt around like they have no clue what they are doing.

Canada doesnt have those models. We have: GTline (2.0T) , GT (3.3tt), GT Limited (3.3tt). Theyre all AWD but all have several feature differences. The exteriors are all the same except the GTline gets 18" wheels and no Brembos.

200S, 200Si, GT-Line (2.0T) 300S, 300Si, GT (3.3TT). They’re all RWD and have different features, GT-Line and GT get the sun roof and 19’s & Brembos, the 300Si has 19’s but the rims on it and the GT-Line are different to the GT

I couldnt imagine living in a frozen environment like that, I’d have to hibernate like a bear until it’s over...lol, anyway we’ll be thinking of you all on our +40c days, long hot & dry summer is forecast for us, we are already in a bad drought here on the east coast of OZ, bushfires are also our enemy in these conditions.
I am NOT looking forward to another hot summer here in Sydney, and I find the usual Feb heat and humidity the worst. Menopause is bad enough thanks!

2 words that are never in the same sentence here.....humidity and february........

One thing I noticed recently, with the side view mirror fold down feature, if you approach the car from the front or side, it will pick up the signal and fold open. If you come from the rear, you can sneak up behind it and you can get very close to your door, before it will recognize you're there to fold open.

This may be very old but since I'm usually IN my Stinger, I've never noticed it. I was just driving behind a GT1 and whenever he put on the brakes, the top brake light flashed 3 times before staying solid. He wasn't tapping either, since the taillights were solid.

Any of you notice this? I'm wondering if maybe he was in a 2019 since he still had temporary plates on.

pretty much describes my honeymoon.......

That is a flasher module that you can install on any car for the brake lights. It is an aftermarket add on.

Ahh interesting. Surprised he had it on there so soon after buying, considering the temp plates. (Unless of course the dealer installed for him)

The 19s are staggered and come with the Michelins. All 18s are squared and come with A/S Bridgestones, as far as I can tell. On other "tire threads", some have complained that the Bridgestones are noisy; but the biggest complaint on the AWD with A/S tires is the lower top speed limit of 140 MPH, not the road noise assertion.

I've got a GT with 18" Michelin PSP's from factory.
