from what, a hit and run or she was off the road and into something? it is easy to lose control of this car if you hoon around at the wrong time or without the skill, i.e. didn't know your limitations as a driver. pretty rare for a woman driver to do that in any car, though.
There's a ton of construction on that road, the cones are actually a bit confusing the way they have it set up. Not sure but I think maybe she was probably coming from the gas station and tried to gun it across the street and got caught.

The theft issue should be resolved by the software update. If not, then I would probably add on my own, so that if the vehicle is started without my device (phone, bluetooth headset, something), it would kill the power, and leave the car disabled.
I would think informing your insurance provider that you have the software fix installed - documented by dealer of course, would get you a discount.
The Kia theft issue was not related to Kia stingers. Only affected cars sold in the USA that also started with a physical key in ignition cylinder.

And no, it was not possible to solve with a software update.

A lady at my job that has a Kia Sorento said the dealership told her there was some sort of software update along with changing something out with the lock cylinder.

Yes, it's not correctable with only software..

Needs hardware.

Parts need to be added .

Have any of you folks tried adding the tracking apps/dongles provided by some insurance co's? They claim it can save you up to 25% (doesn't clarify which coverages).

Personally, I consider it all spyware. However, with winter approaching, my driving is reduced significantly - ie once every other week to the grocery store or out on the weekend. If I only need to keep the dongle/app for 3 months, I might consider it.

I haven’t, apparently not available in California.

My son used it for a minute when he first started driving, I had Allstate at the time, they required it. Luckily it was only for so many hours. Fun/spirited driving is not possible while using those apps so it's a no no from me.

Part of the challenge for me is I rarely use my cell phone. I work from home and phone stays in airplane mode 99.9999999999999999999% of the time. With google voice I get all my calls/texts on the computer where it's much easier to respond.

When I go out, phone still stays in airplane mode unless I need to make a call. When driving I've found handsfree to be too distracting for my liking.

Sadly working in tech has really made me hate technology and the concept of always connected. I asked the phone agent today what happens if the phone stays in airplane mode. She said she'd get back to me. I'll be surprised if she calls back. Ironically this was allstate.

Allstate sucks. They're the worst insurance company I've ever had. Progressive being the best. I currently have State Farm, we'll see how it works out with them.

This got me searching for new insurance and I just switched to progressive. Saved $1000 on 6month policy for the same coverage/limits. It’s been a pain searching in California.

I used something like this a couple of years ago (I can't remember if it was an insurance dongle or if it was through my last Honda, which had some ability to track and rate your driving). My impression was that it was nearly impossible to drive "good" in the city.

It tracked things like hard stops, hard acceleration, and drive time (? I can't remember exactly) and rated you good/mediocre/poor in each category for each drive. Well in the city, if the light turns red you have to stop quickly, you have get on/off the freeway multiple times, you're taking shorter trips. This was all "normal" driving and nothing spirited. It was nearly impossible to have a "good" trip in the city. But if I took a road trip or drove in the country, the trips were all "good".

I pay under $900 for a year, for full coverage. But I get a discount because of the business insurance. I'm 43

What is considered "full coverage" in Ohio?

$2,000,000.00 liability coverage with low deductibles for collision claims?

Unbelievable!!!!!!!

Got the renewal notice from the reptilian this afternoon. By some miracle the rate actually went down by $10 compared to last renewal. $565/6 months 100/300K liability with $50/$500 comp/col deductibles. It's still puzzling why other companies were coming in at $800-$1300 for the same coverage. Nothing has changed in terms of zipcodes, claims, tickets, etc. Still higher than the $375 I was paying for the same coverage on the accord 2 years ago.

I'm 53. 250/500/100 with $500 deductible for both collision and comprehensive. My last ticket was 11 years ago and no accidents.
$1571 annual ($131 per month) with Liberty Mutual. I think that is high but I had Progressive a few years back and Geico up until a year ago and both of them had lost their minds. This is with multicar discount, good payer discount, preferred payment discount, homeowner discount, online purchase discount, military discount, claims free discount and last but not least....paperless discount. LOL I would hate to see what it would be if I was 20, only car, lived in an apartment, non-military vet !!!!

@Silentg4ost We still have the house with lib mutual (at a very competitive rate), but this car they just don't want to insure (at a rate im willing to pay). Where are you?
