3.3TT *IMPORTANT* WHO WANTS ORANGE RUBBER IN ENGINE MANIFOLD??

I wonder if the coupling was damaged during the wreck, perhaps that's how you got the flakes.

Or maybe our couplings are just cheap, and eventually become brittle and start flaking regardless.

Total unfounded guesses on my part.
The erosion looks like fluid related. This is the OEM $100 coupler. Not kidding new one cost me $100. I will try to track down what caused it, the coupler should last forever for $100 lol

Right?? Haha

I'm with Todd on this one about not knowing why it would break down that inner layer. That inner lining should be more than capable of handling some oil: it's what the factory expects to be sprayed into the intake since every boosted application ever has blow-by.

I'm thinking this car might have had more on it than meets the eye, perhaps it had WMI or something that could slowly break down that lining... Which begs the question: how many people with WMI have checked the inside of their couplers? I've also removed my TB before, and never saw any signs of orange bits in my intake manifold (on my old Stinger), so I highly doubt it's the oil doing that...

I run wmi and checked my intake after seeing this. No issues on mine/no flakes

I run wmi and checked mine right after seeing the post. No orange in the throttle body or intake manifold. No break down in the coupler. Running double catch cans

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
So you are not running a catch can?

Need people to confirm same issue as you though. As of now it's isolated

Agreed, while somewhat alarming, especially the lastest pics of the IM and valves I also think this car has suffered some trauma that any normal Stinger still on the road has not. Pretty sure I saw a pic GenVodka posted in a different thread showing the engine bay and Im pretty sure I saw noticeable damage to the exterior of the coupler. That damage could certainly be a contributor here and reason for the failure that normal, not wrecked Stingers just aren't going to experience.

The coupler was just bent a little in the accident. After all it is supposed to flex lol. It could have been that some stuff got injected into the intake in the accident and allowed to just sit there. For a long time untill I got it and did a test start. Then all that gunk got sucked in lol. As for the valves, that may have been octane booster.

Well I pulled the manifold, and confirmed that I was not dreaming. There is orange stuff everywhere. Also I have a bunch of carbon buildup. https://photos.app.goo.gl/42FQKXYdTMXzMs4H8

After seeing those pics and the way the orange is like glitter, I don't think that's the coupler at all, just coincidental coloring. This person might have been spraying something, you just didn't know because the pipe was swapped out or removed. If the coupler lining could produce a perfectly glittery powder to spread around like that, it might be believable, but some part of you probably knows that the lining isn't capable of creating a powder. If the lining was breaking down, you would get scattered bits of varying sizes, shapes, and thus varying weights and not such a nice "even" look. Either something was sprayed that was taking the coloring with it, or that's just the lining at all.

Makes me wonder what you've got yourself into, here, lmfao
