Amen brother. An open mind is what lead me to the Stinger in the first place. I was shopping BMW 340's and the Mercedes C43 when this option popped up.lmfao I think there are arrogant people and annoying trolls from all walks of car life... whether that is the WRX/STI crowd or the Civic crowd or the M3 crowd or whatever...
I owned a WRX for many years... I have always respected and shown respect for what other people drive and are into...
I also will say that comparing the Stinger to a WRX is completely apples to oranges... my 2014 WRX would dominate my current 2020 Stinger Gt on any track, circuit, road course, or back road. Heck... even off the line it would be neck and neck to sixty if the proper launch...
Most of my friends drive WRX/STI toys or the occasional MS3 and Evo... none of them smoke or vape but some do occasionally frequent a hookah bar or smoke lounge...
lol... I say drive what you wanna drive and love it for yourself but always keep an open mind and show respect for what other people have in their driveway or garage...![]()
Totally agree, just having a little fun... the WRX was a consideration, and one of my good friends is on his third WRX, and he doesn't vape, or own any flat brimmed hats lollmfao I think there are arrogant people and annoying trolls from all walks of car life... whether that is the WRX/STI crowd or the Civic crowd or the M3 crowd or whatever...

The track layout would play very heavily into the times...very tight twisty track STI advantage, wider track with more straights, Stinger... in the end it would depend where the finish line is located. (assuming the equally skilled drivers and 100% stock cars)By how far of a margin would you, in your experience tracking both vehicles, say the gap is between the STi [stock] and Stinger GT [stock]?
Agree, there's a lot of aholes and nimrods in the car community. Just reading posts on the internet is enough to take the temperature and results in face palms on a regular basis.
You're 100% correct. My old SCCA club president used to bring his 911 GT3 and his 93 Miata to the track. When the young kids started bragging about their V8 muscle cars he'd swap into his Miata and smoke em'. Good times. The track layout would play very heavily into the times...very tight twisty track STI advantage, wider track with more straights, Stinger... in the end it would depend where the finish line is located. Years ago I remember laughing at a mixed class battle between a 5.0 Mustang, and a Miata... coming out of the last turn before the straightaway the Miata was ahead of the Mustang, but as soon as they got on the straight, the Mustang would fly by the Miata... this was repeated EVERY single lap... (it was a tight street circuit)
Man! We have brake pad issues too ya know!Dude, you might as well be smoking / vaping. Car and Driver tested the 2014 WRX at 3:15.5 in their lightning lap. Stinger GT was tested at 3:11.6. Almost FOUR seconds faster. And the WRX also had brake pad issues...
As a former Legacy GT owner, stage 3 (bnr16g turbo, injectors, downpipe) with the 5EAT + Hexmods F1 valve body, etc. The Stinger is faster in EVERY way. It MIGHT be a bit softer in the suspension (I had Konis on my LGT, just Whiteline sways on the Stinger), but with ECS10, I can adjust the suspension any way I like.
I get it - we all have our favorites, but the only comical comparison is your claim that the WRX is FASTER than the Stinger.

I was asked for my opinion and my own experience in the real world driving a modified 2014 WRX and a stock 2020 Stinger GT RWD. From my own experience, in the real world, I am faster in my previous WRX on the same backroads than in my Stinger. Again, perhaps it's me still getting used to my car after only one year of ownership... but you're telling me on a tight circuit or rally-course that a 2014 wrx (stock) would not beat 9/10 times a 2020 stinger gt rwd (stock)? Not trying to be argumentative but as turboAWD highlights (and my previous post about the track layout) - 0-60 times / drag racing have nothing to do with lap times... I bet I can peddle a tricycle around an autocross course faster than a top fuel dragster can do it... and they have great 0-60times
I love me a nice WRX... and they are pretty quick, let just agree to disagree, and call this horse well beat![]()
Obviously track times are different than drag times. There are many different types of tracks or other courses out there. Heck... there are many different types of drag racing out there too (1/4 mile, 1/8 mile, 1/2 mile, etc) whatever. I said that my Stinger is ten times a better car overall than my previous WRX but I also give credit where credit is due. I don't care about brand snobby-ness or recognition or "street racer cred" or any of that nonsense. I am simply comparing my experience in both cars.Man! We have brake pad issues too ya know!
Redcal is right, Track times vs drag times are totally different things. I worked for lexus and did a track day with a GSF...while it handled well, it was a pig in the hairpins. Fun smacking cones with an $85,000 car lol
