Hydrolic Electronic Control Unit Recall

Well this is just awful. I have a new intake and put a JB4 on the car. I’m assuming I’ll have to remove everything before bringing it back to KIA to fix the issue?

I think it'll depend on the dealer that you go to. I could be wrong.

I spoke with my local dealer and they said they have an inspection process to see if the HECU fails. If it does they replace the unit, he did say they haven't seen one fail yet.

It’s always good to keep a fire extinguisher in the car, u never know when something like this could happened or if ur driving around town and happen to seen another car on fire.
yess indeed!! I've used mine for another person's vehicle..

wonder why this isn't affecting 2018 or 2020 models, also any idea why it may not affect those vehicles that do have DCC? different control unit?

I haven’t! Although I only drive about 3k miles a year so it sits for days at a time. Having some Hawk pads put on the front and the Ali express tips put on the Borla as we speak. Must keep going, and hope she doesn’t burn up.

I'm curious if there are different revisions of the HECU for the different feature sets... Do the smart cruise cars have a different P/N than the ones without?

I just happened to notice that some Kia Sorento and Optima models are also being recalled for this same issue. The article said they are simply inspecting the HECU and if leaking, they are replacing it, otherwise they are not. Wondering if they will do the same for the Stinger.

I have not parked my stinger but am considering it. I have a winter vehicle and summer vehicle. Usually I switch at the first snow. It has not snowed yet but will any time now. I am thinking a few days to a month will not make much difference and may save my stinger in the end

Im curious if there is any recall on the G70 for this as well?

I just received the actual recall notice on the potential engine fire issue. It says they need to install some kind of fuse kit that will take about 3 hours. I’m not sure I’m buying what they are trying to sell here. I’m going to find out exactly what they are going to do to my car before I take it in.

It's all in this thread here New Stinger Recall

Received the same notice to schedule the recall repair. The problem is my GTS is under a cover in the barn for the winter. I disconnected the battery instead of installing the trickle charger due to the possibility of a fire. Hopefully KIA will perform the repair in the spring
