How to avoid blown spark plugs in your tuned Stinger

______________________________
My racechip S (lowest available) offers 30% more power with a very small chance of a spark plug blow out.

How do you figure that? I'm not slagging Racechip - in fact I just received mine and will install shortly, but they advertise the S as providing an additional 34HP and 74 lb-ft of torque. So, about 10% & 20% respectively. Nice, but still a long ways from 30%.

Hm - am having a case of fog memory. I thought the site said 30% but in reality it was just 34HP. In either case, let me know what you think about your RaceChip. I like to describe it as it surges power through the gears. Unfortunately there is no response to throttle, but it does offer quite a bit of umfph in sports mode.

Just get a proper tune, and don't worry about gaping the plugs lower than .028. There is a reason the plugs have to be gaped down with a piggy back.

We have those plugs on our website for about $100 less then from Amazon. And they come pre gapped at .028 damnfastdd.com

It's 2019. You should charge an extra $99 and add some kind of security to your website. That way you're still cheaper than Amazon and no one has to worry about their information being stolen.

You'll never see this on Amazon:

no one has to worry either way :) havent had a single issue in all the years we have had our website :) but to each their own, people can enjoy paying much much more from amazon.

Everyone that enters their personal information into your website should worry.

"haven't had a single issue" yet is a poor reason for running a shady online store.

This isn't the 1990s. How much would it cost you to provide some simple form of security to protect customer's credit card/PII? $5 a month?

We have a new website in beta right now and will be up soon. Im sorry you have an issue with our "shady website". I hope when we get our new site up you will buy all you parts from us :)

For the $100 savings you could pick up the phone?

Kamauxx, we have not had a single issue in 15 years of running the site. The customer information is not accessible from the backside of our website. All customer information is deleted (credit card, paypal, ect) at the moment of submitting the payment. We have it set up that way to protect not only us, but the customer as well.

You will however be happy to hear that we have a new website that has been SEO optimized and has very good security implemented. Even with the new security, we still have all customer payment options deleted at the moment of purchase. I have always had my websites set up that way, always will. Security is an illusion, so we make it impossible for someone to find any of our customers payment history by deleting from the website at the time of purchase.

So they enter it into a potentially compromised system instead of the customer doing it themself?

Why not just mail out catalogs and customers can fill out order forms and mail them personal checks?

Ohhh, it's "deleted." Awesome. At least you have a good grasp on how this all works.

Seriously, I'm glad you guys have a more secure site coming. New customers information should be better protected with proper measures in place.

Smart move.

This might shock you that someone might have knowledge on something you don’t. But I work in it security.

And let me explain this for ya.

Customers entering personal info (and / or credit card info) on an unsecured site is a problem. It has nothing to do with how you store it. It’s the data is transmitted over the internet in plain text. Any juvenile comp sci programmer in between your servers / site and the customers can sniff/intercept without you knowing. So you wouldn’t know you have a problem. Either would the customer. Neither of you without significant cyber forensics could prove later that their info was stolen during this transaction. It’s like literally posting it in a car door. Driving around all day, then parking at your store front. Yep. You got it all right. But it was available for any system/hack on the route as well.

That’s why your site is an issue.

You probably have vulnerabilities internally as well... but this is just talking the transaction.

Even if you direct them to PayPal for the payment, you still have them create a login with personal info in plain text on your site. PI is just as valuable regarding fraud these days.

How about you take it seriously?

Just because you don’t know any better or don’t “think” it’s a big deal, doesn’t mean it isn’t.

And it’s great your new site might be better. We all hope so.

But ignorance on your current site doesn’t make it ok.

But you are such a consummate professional as we’ve all seen that your lack of interest in security isn’t shocking.

Race Chip, JB4 and the rest to me are stop gaps. As soon as there is a proper tune available either by flash software or local shop, it will trump any piggyback.

Tork seems amazing, but it's expensive and if something goes wrong you need a 1000 dollar spare ECU to replace the tuned one.

Kia desperately needs a performance division so they can offer tune packages.
