How much did your car insurance change with the Stinger?

Same issue here with USAA and the Stinger. Premium went from $840 per 6 months (June19 - Dec 19) to over $1000 per six months starting in January 20. I'm not paying $2k a year in insurance for a car. Some perspective, that's approx 5% of the original cost of the car. Shopping around now after talking to a USAA agent today who told me that it was just the cost of insurance and he would shop around if he were me. Just turned 50 and I have no tickets since 2014 and no accidents since 1998. I'll keep my home insurance with USAA and take the hit on the $53 multi-policy discount ;)

I mean, idk how insurance works, clearly, but I would assume a 17 yr old accident is somewhat in the past. It wasn’t even major - just a fender bender. Also, it was on my parent’s policy.
I’d be happy to consider any insurance savvy advice.
I’d love to be paying @MerlintheMad rates.

I definitely wouldn't wait until April to change your policy. I just started a new policy at progressive for $385/six months after approx ($350) in discounts and canceled my USAA auto policy as of this coming Friday. Even if I lost all the discounts with Progressive $735 (385+35), is $300 less than what USAA want me to pay. I did talk to another USAA agent moments ago who was much more helpful and said that numeric ratings for the car factor (cost of replacement/etc) into the cost of the insurance and practically everything in this beast is electronic but that's the norm for most cars now. I had a 652 BHP 2014 Shelby and the insurance cost was nowhere near these costs.

LOL...I find it interesting that I can't edit my post as a new member because of links in my post (those links are the originally quoted message I am responding to).. "scratching head confused"

Curious why you'd keep your homeowners with USAA when you are changing your auto coverage to a cheaper insurer? I mean, I switched from USAA because of the same issue but I moved my homeowners as well because even more savings. If they can't earn my money on my auto, they definitely aren't going to earn my money on my more valuable possession.

Good question. My wife has worked in the home restoration business dealing with water damage etc and also in the roofing business where these scam artists otherwise known as roofing companies move into a neighborhood where there has been hail damage or storm damage. USAA are consistently known to be the best and easiest company in the industry to work with when it comes to claims. So my home is a lot more valuable to me than my car and while I know I can get home insurance cheaper elsewhere, I think you get what you pay for. But that's just my subjective view. I don't want to ever have an issue when it comes to a claim for my home. Consumer advocates also report them to be #1 in customer service and claims which is what you want from your insurance company on a very large value asset where you may need to completely replace your home. Maybe I'm also a bit biased because I use USAA banking services which have some huge advantages for me specifically.

I have a GT2 AWD. So I would think I have all the safety features any everything. I have allstate. I wonder if I should look at other options. my rate went from 650ish for 6 months on legacy to 1100+ for stinger..
I was just quoted a $1200 a year increase from Allstate!!!! I was quoted half that for Amica.....bye bye Allstate, that’s just absurd.

Thankfully I got a letter today from State Farm saying after the underwriter review my policy will be $102 per month and not $170.

My rate is now down to just under $85 per month or $506 per 6 months.

Wow! That is a killer rate.
I switched from USAA recently and dropped my rate to $134/mo ($804/6mo). Not as good as yours, but much better than it was!

I have three auto policies, an umbrella policy, and home insurance with state farm. So that probably heavily influences my lower rate.

Same here. My Stinger's six month rate was just over $500 starting out. Now it's c. $450.

Stinger GT2 cost me $600 a year. It's the three cars that are insured with three drivers under the age of 22 that kill me

Who is your insurance with and what is your coverage? I am with State Farm and for 50K/100K/50K with a $500 collision deductible, my cost is $600 for 6 months.

I am thinking of switching insurance but I am a bit apprehensive to do that. I have always been with State Farm and they have always been good to me. I just got an online Progressive quote for about $60 less per month for the same coverage. Not sure if I want to chance it (and I hate that Flo bitch).

I'm with a local Utah company that has awesome rates -- Bear River Mutual. I have 100K/250K/100K with a $1000 deductible. It's really hard to tell what the true rate is since I have 6 cars insured with them along with three male drivers under the age of 22.

Regarding Progressive -- I have motorcycles insured with them and honestly, they have been the best company to work with. My son totaled a motorcycle not 2 months after purchasing a policy and they made me whole, no questions asked.

Thanks for the info. I am probably going to stick with State Farm for now. My total cost of insurance per month is going up about $20 going from a 2016 Chevy SS to the 2020 Kia Stinger GT2 which is not too bad.

45 years old, clean record with Progressive my insurance went down $60 /year (same coverage obviously) from my 2017 Buick LaCrosse. I was surprised.

mine went down $30/mo from an Accord, but that was probably because I turned 24. The V6 coupe Accord was my safe haven when I wanted a decently quick car that didn't kill me on insurance being 22 in college. I had to pay $150/mo for the Accord, but a luxury/sports coupe was a good $250-$270/mo at the time.

My insurance dropped $2/month when I went from a 2013 Audi S6 to my 2021 Stinger GT. It's by far the most expensive of the four cars on my policy.

$409 a year............ rated pleasure, cheaper than the 2019 rav4 it replaced

I paid $130ish a month for my 2019 Trailhawk Cherokee and 2010 Genesis coupe with Progressive. When i switched out the genesis with the 2019 Stinger it went up about $30.

Husbands 2013 ss Camaro is the most expensive (40 every 6 months more), then the stinger, our cheapest is the subaru baja, 2005
