Here it is, the facelift.

Official communication from KIA Global News Room which bring some more precisions. My new take aways:
  • Facelift is said to be available in many market world wild this year... (contradicting Car&Driver / Motor Trend etc. ) and contradicting KIA US web site " Stating:
    • All 21MY Stinger
      • Carryover from 20MY
      • Add red interior to V6 Panthera Gray models

This is a huge disappointment; our Saab is super reliable mechanically (I thrash the thing hard visiting the rev limiter constantly, heel-toeing twisty roads, etc. and am still on the original clutch) but the accessories including AC, window regulators, and various other components are starting to break down constantly as I wait for several makes (Kia, Subaru, BMW) to get their refreshes out. I can't wait much longer for Kia to get the Stinger right because I am sick of dealing with backordered Saab parts. :(

Genesis played it super safe with the G70 to the point where visually it was quite boring and unremarkable. The only thing that stood out was the boomerang they slapped on the side, which personally I thought was ugly and almost felt like a last minute addition after realizing how plain the whole car looked.

Agreed!

When my fiance and I looked at the G70, I loved the mechanicals, and the upholstery, but the dashboard, the body lines... it was "nice" but not "wow" - granted, it's far better in the flesh than in photos, but Hyundai tried so hard to not offend anyone with it, that the car looks a bit milquetoast. The performance is a different matter - slightly better than the Stinger, which is to be expected with the slightly shorter length, slightly lighter, etc.

The "Boomerang" is a bit cliche, like it's trying to be a Caddy, but I appreciate that it's functional rather than fake so I can give the boomerang a pass. I think eliminating the chrome in favor of Stinger's dark chrome, or even making the G70 "murdered out" would be a huge improvement. I do prefer the G70's feature set including Blue Link with geofencing, vehicle locator, remote climate control adjustment (great for days when it dips below zero or the car is covered in 3' of snow in Maine)... but the only thing we truly liked better about the styling in the G70 is the diamond stitching/quilting of the seats, which the Stinger refresh is apparently getting.

But alas... as usual the US gets a bum deal on the Stinger. Again. The S4 is looking like more of an option (and BMW now that they're finally keeping their promise to offer Android Auto) if Kia doesn't get their shcrap together.

The current Stinger is still a very good buy and can be had at a lower price than what you would get from a just refreshed model (unless you wait quite a few months after the inventory is build up). I am guessing the MY21 will be a shorter year and that we will get the MY22 mid calendar year 2021.

A Halo model that will eat some of current sports car and you can buy it new GT2 after discounts at 40 to 45 k USD is not a huge disappointment, have in mind that a Camry is 40k with options.

I was in the same position back in 2009, when my beloved 2001 9-5 Aero became too trouble-prone to keep. It was also on its original clutch, and after some serious issues around the 50,000 mile mark, had been rock solid mechanically through about 135,000 miles. But the little problems were piling up quickly, and I didn't want to soldier through another winter with it on my (then) long commute.

Unfortunately, this was in the fall, so most 2009 models were gone, and it was too early to order some 2010 models. I wanted a BMW 328i with MT and Sport Package, but simply couldn't find one like that, and I would have needed to wait several months for a 2010. And there was no way I was getting another Saab, because the 9-3 had reliability problems and the company was in its death throes. (That 2G 9-5 was pretty cool though.)

That's how I ended up with my 2010 Acura TSX (6MT), which I figured would be a stopgap until another 3 Series generation emerged. But then the 3 Series became boring and lost all its steering feel, which was almost a relief because I didn't feel compelled to blow $40k+ for one.

So here I am with the TSX after 11 years, trying to be patient as I wait for the Stinger facelift, upcoming Acura compact sport sedan, new WRX, next Civic Si...you obviously know how it goes!

Consider it opportunity knocking. Audi just announced 2021 MY vehicles. When they start arriving to your local dealership go in and get yourself a brand new 2020 S4 for 20% off.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Has anyone heard if they made any improvements to NVH or chassis rigidity for the face lifted car? Or will it have all the same issues with the sunroofs and creaking interior panels?
