Sorry to hear it. Man, @ 75 mph it must've been a mess - both the car and the deer. At least you weren't injured. I feel your pain... Well I fortunately haven't felt that pain with my Stinger. I, like @DNA is Digital, live in Michigan (in my case, W. Michigan - Kent County - has the highest # of car/deer accidents in the state). I have a 25 mile one-way commute, 20 miles of which is on hilly 2-lane with plenty of curves. And of course, driving in the dark a lot now. 2nd year with the car and I've had 1/2 dozen near misses. A couple already this fall. I'm constantly scanning the ditches. Plus it's hunting season so the guys in the woods have 'em moving around more. It's my biggest fear with the car. Another reason the Stinger will be in the garage more this winter. I'll be using our 2009 Sorento as the beater. If I hit a deer... meh.Well... I hit a deer at 75mph and destroyed the front end of my Stinger. Got it on my dash cam. May or may not post the video. Anyone else felt this pain with their stinger?
Thanks for the positive wishes, guys. I’m 100% okay. Other that my sadness and frustration for the car. Insurance will cover it minus my $250 deductible. And the cost of a rental. Sigh. Not sure about the extent of the damage. My braces under the hood are both bent. Bad. So I’m sure there’s at least some other damage in there. The hood is stuck so I can’t see much. I’d love to end up with a brand new GT (as long as I can get my exhaust off first). Doubt that will happen. As long as I’m driving a black stinger GT with red interior again soon, I’ll be happy. Here are a couple pics. As bad as it looks.... it looks worse in person. There’s a lot you can’t see here
I’ve been thinking the same things. One thing bending can create a ton of slightly misaligned parts. I will definitely try to get a new stingerThat, is just horrible. I think it's a write off. There's no way that the total of repairs will be less than half the value of the vehicle; and then how could the car ever be the same again? We always say that. Because it is almost always true.
(edit to add: an impact that fierce throws things out of alignment clear back to the drivetrain. And then there's the front suspension. Once they "straighten" everything out, everything can't be 100% straight everywhere. Issues will last the life of the car: it may very well drive fine, but wear on parts could show the true extent of the lasting damage. That's how I would feel if this were my problem. Push hard for a totaled vehicle and get a brand new one!)
Yes that is all I complain of too. No deer to speak of here, just kangaroos. Sorry to hear the bad news.Yikes. Here I am complaining of Big rigs throwing rocks at my car. Glad to know you’re ok.
Did the air bags not deploy form this impact? Thanks for the positive wishes, guys. I’m 100% okay. Other that my sadness and frustration for the car. Insurance will cover it minus my $250 deductible. It did not. I’m surprised it didn’t. But also glad.Did the air bags not deploy form this impact?
So, I got a quote from Geico. Without lifting the hood and being able to quote anything under there except the braces and a few other obvious things, it’s currently at $5400. I’m sure that number will rise when the body shop gets in there. Body shop is ordering parts and I’m going to schedule an appointment on Monday. Definitely going to be a few weeks without my baby.
Most expensive part was a headlight. $1667 for 1 headlight. Glad I’m not paying for that.
