I saw a video on youtube, The ''fix'' it sems is a few spacer washers on the top plastic ledges,For lack of a better term, on the left and right side of the hatchback.......well mine was done , but the washers they use are super thin, they do not work!! best get in there yourself and put some proper washers in there, I used a couple non metallic washers on mine only used 4 per side 2 to a bolt. It's as it should, no thump, rattle,or anything now. Here's the video......

I saw that, I've managed to fix my hatch noise with an even simplier fix than this. I bought clear adhesive rubber bumper pads that you would add to the inside of a drawer or the bottom of a sofa to keep it from sliding around. I applied them to the bottom circular spot where the rear rubber bumpers make contact and I unscrewed the rear bumpers out as far as they would go. I have to replace the pads monthly just because they start to slide around but this has completely fixed my noise with minimal work.

I'm going to do this later today. I also have rattles coming from the roof but at least some of the noise will be eliminated.

The issue is those rubbers are threaded and they slowly turn themselves over time. I'm sure something could be done to keep them from twisting on their own. With the bumpers that I've added they don't turn nearly as easily because they are against a more tacky rubber surface versus the smooth plastic that they normally sit against.

Just tried to install the washers. Didn't know there's loctite on the bolts. Not fun.

I'm in a base stinger rental... Every... Single... Bump... Is a goddang hatch rattle. Now I see what you guys are going through.

Yep, blue loctite, they didn't skimp on it either....shouldn't need a second application.

I couldn't get it off. The biggest tork bit I had was too small and I didn't want to strip them.

t 40...it's a big 'un

A set of Torx isn't an expensive add to the tool collection. I believe Harbor Freight is the U.S. equivalent of Princess Auto up here - a supplier of affordable tools for those who don't need a 'top shelf' brand for occasional jobs.

8 Pc 1/4 in. Drive Star Bit Socket Set

thats what I used 1/4 ratchet with a t40 socket.

Just be thankful it’s not red loctite, you would never get it loose unless you apply heat.

That's a TORX fitting, not Allen.
