Has anyone tried this CAI

The ram air/stock airbox combo definitely helps to open up the top end of the car and it pulls like a train after about 45mph. But since I'm still on the stock airbox, there isn't much filter surface area so my low-speed response is suffering a bit.
Based off Afe Dyno numbers what you are looking for should satisfy you. Hp and tq gains were 25 and 22

Our cars don't have a MAF to get fouled up.
I know, that was just a generalised comment, so I guess then the turbos can get gummed up

I've installed a few CAI systems on naturally asperated car engines with pretty fair results. I have never done one on a turbocharged car-- I'm certainly no expert, but I have always felt you will get more bang for the buck with a more efficient intercooler . . . most so-called CAIs for turbo engines fit in the category of audio-visual mods: They look cool and sound great! Most twin-turbo V6 cars I've owned came stock with a pretty good COLD air intake system-- sometimes a filter change can get more air, if you don't mind trading clean for flow.

The Takeda discussed above looks very good!
I've installed TRUE CAI on both forced induction and NA cars. Unfortunately, we don't have that actual CAI option anymore, so everything is a warm air vacuum.

Intercoolers serve a different purpose. A CAI can only take in ambient air. The intercooler lowers that ambient temp once you're in motion. But an IC can't change the volume of air taken in or smooth out turbulence.

Copied from the "New Intake" thread.

Here are my first impressions.

The fitment is perfect and the quality is top-notch. I left the optional air plugs in for a true cold air intake system. While on a short mostly highway drive, I couldn't hear any induction noise but I had the windows rolled up. I'm sure with the windows down I'll hear it. I could actually hear the stock airbox plus AEM filter combo through my ram air ducts with the windows down before. So I reckon the induction noise is pretty noticeable from the outside.

Update: The intakes are loud outside of the car, especially if you have ram air ducts. People will hear your car sucking in the atmosphere lol. So, sound check passed in my book.

I left the optional air plugs in for a true cold air intake system.
Still not a CAI. Until the filter elements are moved out of the engine bay, no matter what the shielding or box design is, it's not technically a cold air intake.

Good review, though! Would love to see dyno plots compared to stock or your last setup.

Thanks for the clarification. I plan on heading back to the dyno after about 2 weeks.

The AFE seals to the pass-thru on the core support just like the stock air boxes, so all the air is pulled from in front of the core support. And it's a real box like the stock boxes, not just a shield like most options.
So, yes, it is a true CAI.
Location of the filter doesn't specifically matter. The paths the air can take to get into the intake track is what matters.

Unless you're also saying the stock setup is not a CAI, in which case I'd also argue that the ... uh... whatever brand that was that hung the filters out in the bumper cover - I'd say that also isn't a CAI because the intake tubing runs around the engine bay where it'll warm up.

It's a CAI. The amount of heatsoak from the sealed plastic box on the air charge will be a fart in a stiff wind.

Looks impressive, how good does it keep water out when it’s raining?

Anyone dyno'd before and after with this Cai?
I plan on hitting the dyno again after my afe bladerunner hot and cold charge pipe comes in. I did Dyno at 444whp before the intakes.

How have you liked them these last couple months?
The intakes have been great. I feel a performance increase and they produce a nice amount of induction noise. The back of the intakes have rubber plugs (1 on each). These plugs can be removed if you want more noise but you'll lose the benefit of running a fully enclosed cold air intake. In my opinion if you're going to remove the plugs, you might as well not get these intake because the whole purpose is to be fully enclosed.

This is exactly my experience, even though everything else is stock, I feel the car just breaths better & the air/fuel mixture is just right, under hard acceleration the car just wants more, no breaking down.

Thanks for everyone's input so far. After digging into these more, here & on other sites, I decided to pull the trigger during their new sale. I just ordered these intakes on Friday. Excited to try them out.
