Sounds exactly like me. I went half a year before seeing my first "Wild" Stinger. I've only seen two on my own (three total, with the help of my grandson).
Make sure your gf is not mistaking Optimas for Stingers. Early on, Optimas caught me out; they are c. the same size, just a few inches taller: and until you mark the signature features of the Stinger (side brake
vents, "stinger" projecting tail light reflector, hood "
vents" and massive brake scoops - without lights in them

), the Optima is likely to confuse: it's similar enough in a quick pass to be claimed as a "sighting" unless or until the Stinger is so well known that even the swiftest passing glance confirms its ID.
