I just bought a 2019 GT1 about 1800 miles on the car and it has a bad hesitation when you are basically stopped and turning into say a store parking lot off the street. The dealer checked it out today and said everything checked out and they didn't have it occur. When I drive it happens almost all the time. Then he asked if I drive left foot brake - well yes I do. That's how I learned and still do it after 40 years of driving. They told me that it's confusing the car - it doesn't know if to brake or go. Come on - never had this problem before. Anyone else experiencing this? He told me to drive with 1 foot only - um - ok - so I bought this 50K car and I can't drive it how I like to? any suggestions? When I bought it they didn't tell me to drive with 1 foot else I would not have purchased it...

I have heard of this before and without being a left foot driver myself (unless there is a clutch pedal) you have to understand one thing and that is that cars now are running on lots of electronics meaning they have safety features and such that to some extent serve a purpose. with all the tech in these cars this is not something I think is an issue since not many people are left food users for the brakes, it is unfortunate that this is being such an issue with your style of driving.

40 years of driving and you've never driven a manual??

Someone educate me... what is the advantage of left foot braking? Even when driving a manual, I've only braked with the right foot.

None. It can result in pedal confusion in emergency situations (mashing both pedals trying to stop and then lifting the left foot) and I’m sure it has a negative impact on brake wear.

I’m not sure why the hesitation is more pronounced on the Stinger than on past cars but I do agree that this is a bad driving habit that you (the OP) should try to “unlearn”.

Same here. I've never heard of people braking with their left foot.

Unless your driving a rally car, so you can brake and go wot at the same time, there isnt any. Not for every day driving, especially in a manual in city driving.

Don't put your foot on the brake when depressing the accelerator pedal?

If somebody was yelling at you to STOP GO STOP GO what would you do? You'd probably stop and wait for clear instructions.

so back 41 years ago - was taught left foot brake.... it's never caused me problems and in fact at that time there were statistics that left foot brake was safer than right foot. If you have to take your right foot off the gas and move to the brake, versus having your left foot already there - you would be slower doing right foot brake and to prevent a crash it might help avoid it. Either way it's the way i learned and have never had a problem until this car. My Z06 is a stick and i drive that right foot brake since you have to else I would drive left foot.
I guess my stinger is a stupid car not too smart and can't allow left foot - pretty disappointed since it's a nice car but don't like it deciding how I drive...

Left foot braking is 100% incorrect way to drive your car.
Left foot braking is NOT safer.. Lots of accidents happen because in a fast situation people mistake which foot is doing what..

This is the weirdest thing I've ever heard. I'm no spring chicken and ive never heard of left foot braking, it sounds like a horrible idea haha. The Stinger, especially on an incline, holds the brakes when you stop so that you dont get any rollback. My guess is because you're probably on the gas before you're even fully off the brake you apply throttle while the car is still trying to brake. You're probably going to start running into this issue more and more with newer cars.

I don't always try to stop but when I do I try to go at the same time... confusing right now imagine a freakin machine trying to understand wtf is goin on when the go and stop are both being depressed... especially for daily driving I doubt anyone will rally their stinger anytime soon I personally think its too large of a vehicle to try that lol missing my Evo.

So if you don’t do it on your Z06 then don’t do it on your Stinger. It’ll save you money on brake pads.

Why change if it works? Now that I know what it's doing and so picky about left foot I can adjust-problemn solved

I'd imagine that just about every "chronologically advanced and experienced" person who has driven through a storefront or garage door was a two-footer. Actually saw a person on the interstate the other day with the brake lights on at 75 in no traffic and not slowing down. They probably complain about poor gas mileage. Good to know about the delay though should I find myself two-footing into a parking lot.
