Brought my car into the dealer today to do the recommended 6,000 maintenance, which includes rotating the tires. She's got about 8k on the odometer now. The service tech seemed a bit perplexed when I got there and said he can't rotate them because they're staggered. I told him that I thought tire rotation on staggered setups just means swapping the left and rights on the same axle. He brought in a mechanic and they both agreed that nobody with a GT RWD Stinger needs to do this maintenance item. However I've seen both on this board and on other car forums, people rotating their tires in the fashion I've described.

Am I wrong here? They got the car in the bay right now and they're just gonna do an oil change and inspection. What have you guys experienced so far?

If you can, go somewhere else. Rotate side to side... it's what is done. Have mine done every 5,000 to 6,000.

Some tires are uni directional and Can't be rotated (side to side ) check your tires for directional arrows on the sidewalls

True, sorry about that...I was thinking stock.

They can, then have to remove the tires. Discount tire never scoffed when I had directional staggered on the moustang.

......they probably lived in fear of you ......................:p

Yes, they go side to side with asymmetrical tires. Sounds like a couple of dummies at the dealership.

What else is new amirite?
Don’t know where you’re located, but Covina Valley Kia actually has some people with useable IQ in their service department. Been there a couple times and have spoken with the service and manager.

I have staggered tires on my Mercedes and never rotated them. I guess you can do it, but I never even bother with it. Once the tires wear out I just get new ones.

My local dealer is Paso Robles Kia. Haven't dealt with any other service department yet and they're the only one close by.

As soon as you get true directional wheels (like the TSW I have for fair season driving), all side to side flipping is over. "My" wheel and tire guys say that the difference in tread wear with the tires staying in one place is only about a thousand miles by the end of the tires' life. In other words, the most worn out tire goes c. a thousand miles before the tire that still has the most wear left: not enough to quibble about.

Had a wheel alignment done on my Ford took it back the next day and said this things still pulling to the left like buggery. After a a test drive and a fiddle the attendant came back and said 'try that".

He has rotated fronts and it worked like a charm he said that the inside on one tyre and the outside on the other were the culprate . What a difference! Looks like the Stingers going to have to get the same treatment as the last wheel alignment and factory computer reset on the steering wheel didn't work. Fingers crossed can't put up with much more pullin' lol.

Dealer also told me the same. Figure my all season performance tires that came with the car won't live long enough to matter, so not bothering.

New tires is a bit of a hidden cost associated with the Stinger, but I'm fine with it due to it being a performance vehicle.
