I was in the Sydney CBD yesterday, and happened across the Genesis 'experience store' on Pitt St.
The mall was packed, but there were only three people in the experience store - two security guards, and what I can only assume was a salesman of some kind, dressed up in a cheap-looking suit, trying his damnedest to look important, but just coming across as a try-hard tosspot.
They had a G70 and a G80 in there, and a wall full of doors (literally 10 car doors hanging off the wall).
The G70 starts at $80k with the 3.3L twin turbo engine. That's ~$20k more than the full Duck's Nuts GT.
Think I'll pass...
It was the absolute worst attempt I've seen to sell cars.
If it weren't for the fact I prefer the Stinger styling and the fact the Stinger was 7K cheaper than an equally equipped G70 (MSRP), not to mention the pricing structure for Genesis is no-haggle which means no discounts, I would have gotten a G70 over the Stinger any day of the week...
Now that I re-read that, if the Stinger carried a Genesis badge, I would have gotten a Genesis Stinger? lol. Basically, I think the Genesis is more well built on average (assumption) and I do like the idea of calling for service, they pick the car up and leave you with a loaner.
I'm very interested to see the GV80 , the Telluride is a great SUV but too big for my needs , none of the Genesis car designs do much to make my heart beat faster , but they obviously have done a good job from an engineering and quality perspective ...............and certainly help Brand Korea !
