Genesis , one model away from Total market disruption .................

I was in the Sydney CBD yesterday, and happened across the Genesis 'experience store' on Pitt St.

The mall was packed, but there were only three people in the experience store - two security guards, and what I can only assume was a salesman of some kind, dressed up in a cheap-looking suit, trying his damnedest to look important, but just coming across as a try-hard tosspot.

They had a G70 and a G80 in there, and a wall full of doors (literally 10 car doors hanging off the wall).

The G70 starts at $80k with the 3.3L twin turbo engine. That's ~$20k more than the full Duck's Nuts GT.

Think I'll pass...

It was the absolute worst attempt I've seen to sell cars.

One model away from market disruption.

One front facia rework away from total market annihilation.

Perhaps if they didn’t have the fugly front end, all the stinger buyers would have got G70s.

I for sure would have.

not me, they're still way too expensive in comparison to the Stinger and the hatch is a big deal for me.

If it weren't for the fact I prefer the Stinger styling and the fact the Stinger was 7K cheaper than an equally equipped G70 (MSRP), not to mention the pricing structure for Genesis is no-haggle which means no discounts, I would have gotten a G70 over the Stinger any day of the week...

Now that I re-read that, if the Stinger carried a Genesis badge, I would have gotten a Genesis Stinger? lol. Basically, I think the Genesis is more well built on average (assumption) and I do like the idea of calling for service, they pick the car up and leave you with a loaner.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I'm very interested to see the GV80 , the Telluride is a great SUV but too big for my needs , none of the Genesis car designs do much to make my heart beat faster , but they obviously have done a good job from an engineering and quality perspective ...............and certainly help Brand Korea !

have you looked at the Kona? Really nice little SUV.

I agree , but I need to tow a boat a few times a year ............

I hope they aren't actually going to launch the GV80 SUV with those fugly and non-functional wire mesh wheels?

Can you imagine digging mud out of those tiny little triangles? Ugh!
