I personally put Hawaii's 91 octane limit from Shell, along with some Boostane to bring it up to 114-116 octane, been getting 550+ on my range now(91's + Boostanes) for the past several weeks compared

Oh, spare me, 550+ miles on 15gal useable tank size??? That's 37mpg. Not happening. Don

Honestly, running my GT2 in “Smart Mode” gets me the best gas mileage due to the “coasting” feature. I can get 21-29 hwy and 20-24 city in that mode. Traffic is congested in Vegas so driving fast isn’t the best idea commuting to work. I use 91 gas. Of course, Sport Mode is the most fun though.

Sport Mode is definitely the most fun and that is what my wife likes to use, but I use Economy Mode most of the time, but I will definitely give the smart mode a try though. thank you!

For two years I had two Stingers. My wife asked what kind of gas to put in and I told her that she could use any the more expensive will maybe be slightly faster so she didn't care about that and always put 87. I was putting 93 in mine and to tell you the truth driving either car back to back WOT or whatever I didn't feel any difference. Traded mine in for a Miata last Fall. Now I notice a difference in power. Of course when it comes to going around corners I also notice quite the difference there too

The 37mpg might be possible if going downhill the whole way... ie, flagstaff to phoenix.

In coasting mode, never hitting a red light but that wouldn't be 550+ miles either. Don

You can get better gas mileage than that on that run!!

Very first time in AZ I was driving at night and completely missed the flagstaff exit. I coasted into PX on at best 2 gallons of gas.
This was in my 90 Eclipse, not the Stinger (although with the mods it got about as much mpg as the Stinger)

Lets not get technical now I was just referring to the 37 mpg.

I do think both the 2.5 and 3.3 would get better mpg with real (100%) gas, not the watered down stuff.

Wow, are yu always this rude with your comments? If so, why don't you just keep them to yourself. It is a legitimate question. I have not run anything less then premium unleaded but where I live it is 40 cents more a gallon than mid-grade, so I was just wondering if mid-grade would be ok to run in it or not.

I gave 89 a try awhile back. It was definitely a performance hit when slamming on the gas, just tried it a few times. I also noticed I don' get better gas mileage but it did seems like the gas lasted longer (probably because I was driving like a sane person). The manual is 100% right. The car feels a 100x better with 91, but I'm sure 89 or 87 is totally fine.

I also noticed I don' get better gas mileage but it did seems like the gas lasted longer (probably because I was driving like a sane person). The manual is 100% right. The car feels a 100x better with 91, but I'm sure 89 or 87 is totally fine.

I'd like to see someone dyno their car with 87 then again with 93. I bet you anything the difference is less than 10 hp which you would never feel. Get a draggy and try doing some 0-60's. Maybe I'll do it with my wife's car and post it to youtube.

If these results are any indication (with the Stinger the difference would be slightly greater with a turbo/forced running 93), the "less than 10hp difference" would be across the entire power band which is fairly significant, NOT just peak versus peak. There's also spots in the power band where the difference is fairly vast, like 15-20hp/tq.

I dont have a dyno or know the nearest one, but I can assure you. You FEEL a HUGE difference when you press that pedal

I'm going to get a draggy and see what 0-60 difference is on my wife's kia. Perfect car to do it because of launch control and awd. I think the results will be really comparable, but to tell you the truth the real reason is my car is a 2021 Miata that has a 0-60 of 5.7, but it's a 6 speed manual and I'm sure I can't do that and wonder exactly how good I could do. Using different gas in that car wouldn't make a difference because I'm sure whatever I can do repeating would be really hard.
