Has anyone ran Mid-Grade fuel in their GT1 or GT2? If so, did it cause your car to run sluggish or cause any problems, like any type of engine damage?

Lol. Here we go. No, it won't damage the engine to run regular or mid grade gas. The owner's manual "recommends" 91 octane or higher because that maximizes performance and gas mileage (so they say).

I'm sticking with 93 octane and Meth of course. I'm getting 14 miles to the gallon and loving every minute of it!

You don’t buy a performance car and feed it with 87.

I don't know if anything will maximize the mileage on that gas guzzler. I was just curious if anyone has ran mid-grade in their GT1 or GT2 for any length of time and noticed any real difference. As far as engine damage, what I meant was if it left any type of engine build up. If it doesn't, then I will start using mid-grade, but nothing less. Thank you for your response!

Oh not another one... Who knows what may happen. It may pull ignition timing, it may not. Not worth the risk.

There is a big difference between recommended and required. We run 89 with no problem, my wife's Stinger GT1 is a daily driver, extra performance from 93 octane not needed.

I run top tier Shell gas which is only 91 where I live. I do it because I bought a 365hp twin turbo v6. I put regular 89 in my wife's CRV though.

Wow, are yu always this rude with your comments? If so, why don't you just keep them to yourself. It is a legitimate question. I have not run anything less then premium unleaded but where I live it is 40 cents more a gallon than mid-grade, so I was just wondering if mid-grade would be ok to run in it or not.

You can put 87 but don’t go WOT.

The manual for mine states that a minimum of 91 octane is recommended for optimal engine performance. It also states that using fuel with less than 91 octane could result in less performance and decreased fuel economy.

I would do whatever you think is acceptable, but I'm running nothing but premium in mine.

Just discovered that while Costco gas is only 10 cents cheaper for 87 compared to other stations nearby, it's about 60 cents cheaper for 93. At least here in PA.

Not a direct answer to your question, but if you have one nearby you could get the recommended grade for a good deal if it's conveniently located.

I totally understand if you want to run 89 or 87, but just curious--how many gallons will you be consuming per month?

Yeah, I've also found that the warehouse club gas is MUCH cheaper for 93 than many other local stations (where it's just a bit cheaper for 87). It's totally worth filling up there as often as possible.

At least 2 tanks a week since the tank is small. I have decided to run mid-grade for three tanks and every 4th tank run premium
