Four days after inspection - many errors after starting and dealer seems helpless

I've got the marten disease now. When I'm taking a hard left I get all those symptoms/lights, no power. When I restart the car the CEL stays on. Other times, all those stay on and it took me 3 times to be able drive it home with just the CEL on....fark...!

Good morning together, another update after 3 weeks of silence:

The dealer now has found marten bites in the main harness, obviously very hard to detect.
Very probably my insurance will pay the bill (~ 4500 €).
Please keep us in the loop. My dealer can't schedule me for another couple weeks. We hope you are safe in Germany!!

Well, mine's off to the dealer. Not feeling any confidence whatsoever, even if they claim they can "fix" it. And if they have to tear it apart to diagnose or replace harness, it will never be the same. Sure was nice for 4500 miles...
 
Hey folks, time to give you an update, unfortunately not a good one:

On Monday, my dealer calles me to tell the marten has also bitten in one collant hose/pipe when they dismounted the engine to replace the harness, please see pictures attached:

Interestingly, I've not lost any coolant...this one pipe is only available in a kit and has a planned delivery date of Sept 3rd, so 6+ weeks from now on!? 6 weeks for simple pipes!? And the dealer may not use another pipe than the original spare part.

I'm very disappointed for the spare parts strategy of KIA...I cannot drive with my Stinger through the whole German summer.

I've just written a letter to the KIA customer service that I cannot recommend KIA as a car brand anymore...very sad :( :( :(

Offtopic: do you know if European spare part numbers differ from the others worldwide? On the pic you can see "...3L110A" for the pipe, but I cannt find any information about this on the whole internet.

People just refuse to get their heads out of a... sand. Look around. Everything is on back order, and in shortage. It is not just kia problems. Write a letter to your government instead, and tell them, that you cannot recommend them to anybody anymore.
 

hope this parts list works for you. you may be able to find the part. I assumed it was for the 3.3l.
 
Sometimes, wonders are happening: the pipe/hose kit was delivered to my dealer on Thursday, it's part number 28250-3L112 and belongs to the turbo charger coolant system: the upper hose was the one bitten my the marten.
On Friday noon, the dealer called me with my car finished and in normal condition like 3 months before.
The cable set from the engine (91430-J5021) can be seen in the second picture. I was just damn lucky, it was the only one immediately available in whole Europe. Normally those cable sets are manufactured on demand with 3 to 4 months delivery time, my dealer told me.

So after all, it's important to say nor any dealer nor the inspection had anything to do with all the errors. Now I'm just happy to drive my car again without any limitations :D

I got the car back today. Turns out that all those warnings and codes were related to the accelerator pedal, to which I had installed the Windbooster.
Techs removed the Windbooster and it is operating as before. I hadn't found much info on problems with the Windbooster or other pedal tuners, but...
So, not saying it was the Windbooster, but... Hey, Kato!

Hadn't had any problems with mine, how long was your installed before your cluster looked like, well... a cluster!

Installed May 2020. It was definitely unsettling! And when there was no pedal there, it was a bit more concerning. Had to restart 3-4 time just get home. Having neighbors see me putting it on a flatbed wasn't good either. Again, maybe a coincidence, maybe not...
 
Sure beats rodents chewing your wires...somewhere...and having to disassemble and replace!!!!!

Had you ever had ANY problems with the throttle or windbooster before that? I run the windbooster GT, but have not had problems with it before. At least now I know if my dash looks like yours, I will disconnect it.

my name is Philipp and I'm from Germany.
I've found your forum when I was searching for the Stinger Service Manual, which has brought many insights to me.

My odyssey has started 4 weeks ago. I've driven to my dealer for an inspection and many things have been changed: engine oil, engine oil filter, three air filters, gearbox oil.
After driving home (no errors have appeared, everything working fine), the vehicle was standing four days at the same place and was not moved.

Then I've started the vehicle again, and a bunch of error messages was showing up:

First of all, I seriously think the errors are NOT linked to the inspection, that's purely coincidential.
The errors are: Front Collision Assistant (FCA), ESP, MIL, EPB, AUTO HOLD, and Start Stop (A) is flashing.

Most interesting: the RPM gauge (tachometer) is not working anymore and stays at 0 RPM.

Driven again to the dealer, and his diagnosis tablet has shown five error codes (translated from German):

P033500 crankshaft position sensor A, CKPS
C164808 erros CAN signal ECM/EMS for ACC/SCC
C136801 irreversible ESP error
C161381 error CAN signal EMS
B130487 error engine condition signal

First we've thought a marten (animal) has bitten though some wires, but nothing could be found. Surprisingly, the car drives pretty normal with some little bucking while shifting gears.

On spec, my dealer ordered a new CKPS and changed it one week later, but that did not change anything. Then the dealer said it will be complicated and he will contact the Kia dealer service.

Now, three weeks later, he still seems to be helpless, perhaps he does not want to help me because he does not earn money with me (everything is going on warranty).

Fot this reason, I've downloaded the service manual and could follow the electrical circuits (hopefully I've not done a mistake):

The high/low signal from the CKPS delivers the RPM to the ECM/ECU (connector A):

From there, the information is converted in the ECM/ECU and transmitted (connector K) to the instrument cluster and the IBU.

The IBU itself delivers the information for the CAN bus.

In my opinion, the dealer should check th pins 68/69/70 from ECU connector A with an oscilloscope to see with the CKPS is really working correctly or wheher some wires are damaged.

If everything is OK with that, he could check if the the engine speed output signal (pin 72 + B+) is working correctly. If not, the ECU is damaged. If yes, the wires the instrument cluster and IBU should be checked.

As I said, my dealer is not too helpful in the moment. Do you have any ideas to how to solve the issue? Perhaps only a simple fuse?

Rodents of all sizes have TEETH which they must use to feel purposeful. If we could return to old school wiring/hoses instead of soy none of these "adorable" animals would be interested.

Not to feel purposeful, but to eat and to keep their lengthening fangs from chewing through their own faces.

That's what I am saying. They would not chew on petroleum-based insulation and hoses, at least not with the alacrity that they do on soy-based, because it comes across as possible nutrition.
