Still trying to get use to the pushing park instead of switching to it but time to time after reversing or parking I will turn the car off before shifting to park. Although it puts it in park for me does that damage anything?

I still remember the first time I drove my wifes Jeep.

I had been driving the Stinger for 3 months. I got so used to just shutting the car off with the button. We pull into a spot and I shut the Jeep off. I get out and my wife starts screaming. I'm thinking "What on earth now?". I turn around, no Jeep. She's in the passenger seat screaming and the damn Jeep is rolling through the parking lot. Didn't make it but a spot or two but man talk about a rush!

Anyhoo, shut the Stinger off and get out. Don't do that in any other vehicle though.

Glad no one was injured but that's hilarious

Clearly you have a GT2. The GT and GT1 have a real (old school) shifter. The more I read about the differences with shift by wire, the more glad I am that I have the "T". :)

I’ve done it from time to time. It says shift to park even though it’s already doing it for me

Nice to know that I'm not the only one that does that. I've had my Stinger for 18 months and vary rarely put into Park - when I get to my destination, I just turn the car off and it's automatically in Park, However, when driving my wife's Mazda 3, I often forget that I need to shift into Park, so just press the Start/Stop button only to realize the car is rolling as I'm stepping out of it, necessitating a quick scramble back into the car to press the brake and shift into Park.

I have my doors set to unlock when it switches to park, however, if I shut the car off with the button, they won't unlock. I have to hit the park button for it to happen.

I changed mine from unlock when in park to unlock when shut off. As a result, I need to press the unlock button when I shift into Park when letting someone out or picking someone up.
