I got 2 quotes from different shops to put the tips on. I'm definitely doing it myself. I got quoted $100-150 at a muffler shop. Then I got quoted a little over $200 at my mechanic while I was getting the car aligned. I didn't think it would be so expensive for a shop to do it.
if you have the Akrapovics tips,,, this is diy thing, very easy.
No modifications were required to the diffuser for my Akrapovics to be installed. Shop just removed the stock tips and slid the new ones over the exhaust. Not sure what size intake the Borla exhaust requires but my Stillen took 63mm Size A (75mm x 105mm) oval tips.Yeah, I have the ones that hopefully fit the Borla catback. I just have to hope I my ramps will allow me to get far enough under the car to take off the cross member support and remove it at the mid pipe. As far as I know that is how people have been doing it. I guess there is a way to do it by taking off the rear diffuser but I think taking off the exhaust would be easier. I just need to make sure I have the right tool to trim the exhaust holes in the diffuser. I heard people use dremels and I have also heard some people use a sharp blade like a utility knife.

So if you get the 76mm tip, will the diffuser need trimming? As the oval tip are 75mm, does that 1mm extra make a huge difference?
How did this turn out? Any pictures? So sorry if I missed them while reading all 39 pages!!!!Looking good!
I ordered a set of the oval tips earlier this week (75 x 105 mm outlet, 51 mm inlet, without logos) for my Borla pipes. Very interested to see how much quieter this makes the interior on top of the Dynamat trunk lining.
Got these powdercoated black and installed on my MBRP exhaust and what little drone I had is now gone. Like the fact that no trimming of the diffuser was required. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.I ordered these and was looking to paint them black. Sadly, order was placed over a month ago and they are not stateside yet.
Hey - the exhaust tips turned out well. I thought I had some pictures on my phone, but no luck. I'll try and remember to get some tomorrow in the light. How did this turn out? Any pictures? So sorry if I missed them while reading all 39 pages!!!!![]()

The oval tips look similar to stock trim, but attach to the pipe to help route the sound out past the bumper for less reverb inside the cabin. Honestly, the best add on for an aftermarket ex

You can see they pass through the stock openings without trimming.

There is some slight rubbing on the tips since I didn’t trim and the tubes aren’t perfectly concentric with the existing holes. This has made some marks in the clear of the tips, but it’s only visible, barely, when the car is warmed up and the pipes expand.

Photo from standing height. The hardest part was making sure that the tips were evenly tucked during install. Not a big deal, just a finicky detail, but all good once things are tightened down.
I suppose you can use a knife. My experience with cutting plastics, like abs, is that a Dremel tool offers some more control, maybe less risk of cracking as it kind of melts as it cuts, and of course speed. The extra bits can help; cutoff wheel for removing big pieces, sanding drum for refining, then you can hand sand if you wanna get really extra. Can I trim the plastic around the exhaust tips with a utility knife or should I really have a dremel? I thought I read somewhere someone used a knife to trim it.
Got them from AliExpress heaps of different optionswhere did you get these?
This is the same length as the tips I purchased from Aliexpress. They do stick out a little further than the OEM tips but I like the staggered appearance. I'm a bit back and forth on the AKRAPOVIC branding ...The Aliexpess oval tips 51mm x 75mm x 105 mm look perfect except for the 180 mm overall length. The borla step down in diameter to 2inches would leave the tip sitting out pretty far compared to stock tip position.
