EPB (Electronic Parking Brake) Light Flashing

Yup fixed 2 piston brembos. I discovered that one side has a torn dust boot that also appears to be partically melted possible from heat exposure. I'm hoping that might be the issue and will rebuild that caliper. What a wild goose chase! Im trying anything I can before going to the dealer. I dont trust them at all.
The torn dust boot is definitely a problem, but I don't think this is related to your flashing EPB light on the dash.

Very curious.

Disassembled the rear brakes again today and had my wife pump the brakes to see how both rear calipers were working. Everything seems to be working normally so no seized pistons like I was thinking. I might inspect the front brakes and if nothing is amiss its time to head to the dealer.

I havent been to the dealer in a couple years but Im still under the comprehensive warranty for another 2 weeks.

Could it be the way the pads are sitting in the caliper, causing them to bind?

I cant see how, the new pads in the back I added after the light was already on, the pads back there were factory brembo pads when the light came on. The pads in the front are centric posiquiet and have been on for over a year before the light came on. I think I was wrong about the pads not sweeping the rotor at all in the back.

Do you realize, there's a different set of pads inside the back rotors with independent electric motor for parking brake? Check them. Rear calipers have nothing to do with parking brake.

Of course I do, when I replaced the rear rotors I inspected the emergency brake pads on both sides. They all look perfect and don't appear to require any sort of adjustment since the yellow markers all still line up. They also engage and disengage normally.

Does your auto hold work? That system uses parking brake.

Uh. No.

The auto hold system DOES NOT use the parking brake.

Why would you say that?

I forgot to reconnect parking brake once and got auto hold light or message. So I assumed it was part of it. What's used for holding the car?

Hydraulic brake pressure using the primary braking system, all 4 wheels are used for auto hold.

The same system that allows adaptive cruise control to apply the brakes.

Wonder if your blinking EPB (Electronic Parking Brake) issues is rated

Got it. I guess my assumption was wrong. Don't have any more ideas for OP. A lot of times, diagnosis is the hardest part.

Because of this safety feature listed below, the EPB must be functional, in order for the auto hold feature to operate. So if you have a non functional EPB, your auto hold feature will also fail to operate.
For your safety, the Auto Hold automatically switches to EPB under any of the following conditions (Auto Hold light remains white and the EPB automatically applies):
- The driver's seat belt is unfastened and driver's door is opened
- The engine hood is opened
- The vehicle is in a standstill for more than 10 minutes
- The vehicle is standing on a steep slope
- The vehicle moved for a few seconds
In these cases, the brake warning light comes on, the AUTO HOLD indicator changes from green to white, and a warning sounds and a message will appear to inform you that EPB has been automatically engaged. Before driving off again, press foot brake pedal, check the surrounding area near your vehicle and release parking brake manually with the EPB switch.

I wonder if the EPB light is related to your ESC system?

that warning light is NOT the EPB one. you have another issue in the braking system and I'd get that looked at soon.

Yeah my bad, I called it the Electronic parking brake light because it's the light that would always turn on when I activate my parking brake, but I didnt realize the EPB had its own seperate warning light. The light that's on says it could be low due to a few things as shown below:

There is a connector on the reservoir that detects low fluid level, maybe check it and see if it came loose.
And give it a few taps to make sure the float that activates it isnt stuck.

Funny you should mention that I was just out messing with the sensor. It appears to be tight and in place. The car is always garaged and taken care of so if that sensor did fail it would be strange, but I'm open to keep trying anything before heading to the dealer.

Pulling at strings.

Is your ABS light on as well?
