The Porsche isn’t really a replacement for Stinger. I’m a 4 decade long Porsche guy so never thought of Stinger being something to compare to a 911. The Kia doesn’t come close to handling or raw Sportscars feeling of the Porsche. But Kia stands on its own as very competent GT sedan. Sales guys at Porsche dealer loved the Kia and they got a great deal on my trade. My Dodge Durango RT SUV is taking the role of Stinger replacement. Funny in that Dodge in many ways is closer to Stinger experience than the Porsche. The energy of 911 T is so much different. 911 reacts so much faster and is on edge while Stinger and the The sporty Dodge SUV are more relaxed touring vehicles. 911 for enthusiast is far more than a toy. It’s capable street and track vehicle and while 911 T is about double cost of Stinger it’s a relative bargain for near Super car performance at $103k usd. Sure it’s very expensive and took me a long time to save pennies to afford it but oh so worth it!

If I didn’t need practicality of big V8 AWD SUV I’m sure I’d still be in the Stinger. But Dodge won out as it can tow 7500 lbs and carry 7 people. That old Mercedes chassis with Dodge suspension tuning and hemi V8 in Durango is fun too.

Sure, I get that. But for me, the things I needed/wanted were 4 doors, AWD, nice room for full grown adults in the front and rear seats, a hatchback for cargo space, a great warranty and for it to look damn good. Not too many cars out there check all those boxes for less and I wasn't about to settle after tons of years of driving used vehicles I didn't like because I lived where there was tons of snow and I had a wife and four kids in the house :)

Yes, I could have gotten the GT or GT1 and still gotten all that, but for the price I got the GT2, it made sense to just go all the way.
Hey, you left out the first priority: performance. All the utility and practicality and looks wouldn't amount to squat without the handling, torque and that hefty top end. I want THAT. But I want a tourer, in comfort and practicality. I won't buy inconvenience in order to get performance; or visa versa. The Stinger had all the boxes on both sides checked, before I even realized that I would want such a car. Ambushed, I was. :D

Chris Farrell, a slot car racing friend, recently sold his Ferrari and "downsized" to a used Porsche (costs c. as much as @CaliSting's new one). :D On the occasion of these pics, he was checking out my new Stinger. The Brembos he particularly liked, as evidence that the car is a serious package of parts, looks and performance. "And, it's a Kia!", he said with something like wonderment: like, "who would have thought it?", in his voice. He would never get one, because he has enough money that he can just buy the particular upper tier production car that he wants. But gets a kick out of Kia making such a car in the first place.

yeah, I was just listing my top needs. The speed this car has is fun and all, but it wasnt THE reason I got it or even a need. Heck I haven't even played with launch control yet and I have no intention of moding it.

I have said many times that this vehicle checks off everything I WANT in a car.
Speed, looks, comfort, all the safety tech, overall tech, room for full grown adults in both rows, AWD and cargo space. I'm not getting all that for below 60k+ in a new car anywhere else.

Lol, right? When researching what belonged on my short list before buying the Stinger I didn't even consider a car if it didn't have keyless ignition, and that was at $50k. That was simply a hard pass if it didn't have it.

I will never go back to that peasant lifestyle of putting your key in the ignition at any price range. HAHAHAHAHAHA

Consider for $45k less than the price of the Porsche someone could get a fully loaded (none of those button blanks and dangling keys! :p) and much faster Stingray. I just don't get it.

Nice this looks like a HUGE upgrade.

2 seats
370 HP
331 TQ
0-60 in 4.3
$102,000

I can definitely see why you upgraded!

Stinger GT2
5 seater
365 HP
376 TQ
0-60 4.7
43Kish

Smart move! At least everyone will know you own a Porche an not a Kia

I think they have 2+2 seating unless you specifically order a seat delete (not positive).

But they aren't exactly usable seats.

Another comparison, since I'm trolling Chevys website: A fully loaded 3lt Z06 is wayyy faster than this Porsche and still costs $20k less. I just never understood people's reasoning for shopping Porsche.

Because then you can say you own a Porsche. Thats worth at least 20K by itself.

Porsche or chevy, I'd pick Porsche all day.

The current Z06 made it around the Nurburgring in under 7:15. Every car on the list ahead of it (and there aren't many) costs at least $25k more. If someone is buying a car purely for sports performance ("raw sportscars feeling", as he called it) they would be insane to choose a 911 Carrera T above a Z06. The only thing the Porsche could do better than a Z06 is carry 2 adults plus their 2 small kids.

Curious, why would you rather spend $105k+ for a 911 Carrera-T instead of $80k for a Z06?

(might as well get some kind of discussion going here since CaliSting has gone)

Aw don't hate on the guy. Sure, he's a pain in the ass but don't rag on someone's brand-new car just because it's not OUR choice of car. He's probably thrilled to have the Porsche and he should be.

I'm sure there's people who could say the same about the Stinger versus buying a used something or other with as much HP!

Oh the inferiority complexes are working in overdrive here. The guy got a Porsche, everyone knows its a significantly better, more attractive and more desired car. It also costs alot more. It is what it is, enjoy.
