I won't say that it sounds stupid, but it does sound a little naive. The Stinger is a heavy car, so weight reduction is a good strategy, but it will take far more than a spare tire. The old rule of thumb is 0.1 seconds improvement for every 100lb taken from the car. As with all car things, so many other things matter when hunting 10ths though. I think if you are targeting 100 to 200 lb in weight loss, you may begin to improve your acceleration somewhat, but I don't think losing a spare is going to do much for you. For the record, losing weight doesn't improve horsepower. It just makes the existing horsepower more effective by improving the power to weight ratio.
