Emblem Skins--Anyone Done Them?

A few people here have done them - but not many. They're a brand new product for the Stinger. They actually look really great - and I'm not just saying that... If you want to get up close and personal with them - buy a batch to review. If you decide against them (without installing them) I'll refund your purchase, the shipping charge TO you - and the shipping charge BACK to me. Let me know...

While I might possibly buy some myself in the future, based on your proposition above, I'd gladly make a professional review on them if you sent me a set to install and review...just throwing that out there. I kinda know a thing or two about photography and videography ;)

Well, I do appreciate the offer - but a couple of other people beat you to it. If you do order, however, I'll throw-in a GT drive mode dial decal for free if you want. :p

So I like the ones I am seeing, thanks. I do wish that the carbon fiber patter continued all the way to the center though....is there such a set? I also like the Stinger ones for the wheels. Might do those too.

There's only one design of these at this point in time. I imagine further down the road, if these continue to sell well, other designs will be created...

Decided to give a couple of these a try based upon the feedback above - thanks everyone.

They look... okay. The wheel cap GT overlays fit a bit awkwardly and the backing is peeling a bit. My rear overlay is already starting to peel, though the front one is holding on. Once I lose the back one I'm just going to remove them. Doing it again I wouldn't bother with them - either keep them stock or re-badge.
i installed them on a friend's stinger and had the same result the first time around but i missed one important part. that red piece that comes with the hatch skin is crucial. if you don't use it, the skin won't stick properly. if you use it, it won't come off like yours is. my buddy didn't even tell me about that red piece but i opened the second package so i saw it and asked. i think a lot of people miss that step or don't know what it's for.

I did use that piece. The peeling on the hatch overlay really isn't noticeable until you're right on top of it, but I have concerns about the longevity of it as a result.

try alittle clear silicone. that'll do the trick.

I figure it's a ready replacement in case one of them lifts. There isn't room up underneath for a double layer of tape, imho. And interestingly, the rear skin is staying down, while the front one is lifting along the long edges, top and bottom. You can definitely see it is a skin if you look directly at it from a hard angle. The skin isn't loose (yet), it's just not staying down.

I have zero confidence in any glue fixing this problem. Only removing the skin entirely, cleaning the original KIA badge surface and inside of the skin thoroughly, and then putting in fresh double-sided tape and reattaching the skin is going to work long term.

no doubt that's the best solution. another thing is if the car was ever waxed and the wax went over the badges they'd need a very thorough cleanup. that's a mistake i've made before where i had no idea there was wax on the badge. you bring your car to a full car wash that does wax and they're probably gonna get wax on those badges.

Are you speaking of wax on the surface or getting in underneath? I know that car washes use a liquid "wax" treatment at some point in the tunnel. And any lifting skin would definitely allow that under the lifted edges. If so, the kind of cleaning that would remove tape residue would also remove any wax.

im saying that if the car was waxed and the person doing the waxing got wax on the kia badge, it's important to use bug and tar remover or really clean the emblem before sticking anything on. you might not realize there's wax on there and whatever you stick on will last longer if there's no wax between the surface of the badge and the surface of the 3m tape.
