EK1Pro Tune - Sixth Element

So I've gone through quite the ordeal with Sxth and their tune options for our cars, and frankly, I do not recommend buying their ECU/TCU tunes, and warn anyone to take serious caution about trying their new user mapping tool option they're about to launch.

I'll start off with my experience with their tcu tune:
- Purchased their stage 2 beta tune, and noticed that the shift points weren't lowered as they claimed they were on the tune (shifting at the stock 6.7k rpm).
- Received a revised file that helped lower the shift points, but were down to 6.2k-6.4k rpm, when they claimed it was supposed to shift at 5.9k. Also, the 3-4 gear shift was still shifting at 6.7k. I also noticed that it was only triggering stock launch control.
- Received a second revision of their tcu, which fixed the stock launch control, but still didn't fix the lazy 3-4 gear shift. Asked for another revision, but this was when Nathan went for surgery, so I waited until he recovered.
- After he was supposed to come back, I followed up with this request for a third revision for a lower shift point closer to the 5.9k rpm target he initially said. They tell me a new revision was added, but this time they charge me for this revision (the stage 2 + low rpm shifting file some of you see).
- After loading this tune, I try it, and it's basically the first revision I listed above (6.2k rpm shifts with a lazy 3-4 gear shift, and stock launch control). I report the issues back to Sxth, and they opt to tell me they're having issues with getting launch control to work, which is odd since it was working just fine on my second revised file I mentioned above. I point this out to them, which results in them asking which file this launch control was on (which, again, is odd imo). I tell them the file version it was working on, and they have now ghosted me on fixing this tune even after following up with them.

For the ECU, I'll spare you the details, but I've basically been stuck with a middle of the pack tune power wise that cannot idle properly (it sounds like I added cams to my car because it's swinging heavily on ignition timings and rpms). This may be something that could be addressed with more revisions, but this is from starting with trying to get the car to idle without throwing a CEL to begin with, and after 4-5 revisions on their ECU tune, so I frankly gave up with getting it to work properly.

Now for those who think it may be my car that's the issue, I also have an ECU tune from both Lozic and Lap3, as well as a Lozic TCU tune, and they are all working perfectly fine. I opted to try sxth out when they announced their ek1 tune options because I liked the idea of being able to create a customized tune, but I wish I hadn't at this point, and frankly, I feel the customization option is more so for troubleshooting instead of fine tuning.
Yea sxth has been struggling lately. Ryan over at nklabs (south korean version of sxth) has been promt about getting me revisions quickly

add me to the list of people that had issues.

I'm on stage 2 beta of the TCU tune. Launch control still doesn't work like it should. It is shifting sooner than it did stock though.

How do you get in touch with Ryan? I've been trying to contact Nathan though the sxth page chat, but am not getting a response anymore

Want to say some things…

1.
Guys….THIS is tuning…if you want easy happyness get a jb4 and setup a map6 for your needs…
If you want an off the shelf working TCU tune get f.e. lozic

2.
I got my first Stage2 TCU tune from SXTH. Shift was bit under 7k…
Got a revision and asked for 5800. Recieved a Tune which shifted at 5803rpm!!!
Remember: the Tunes only auto shift at asked rpm when in auto. Manual still is manual. Which does make sense!

3.
I got my probs with SXTH at the start. Than i kept in mind that on the other side only humans are at work…
This is no AI… let those guys work for you at their speed and they will make you happy!
They dont only work for you cause you paid fkn low money…

4.
I am workoholic…seeems to me as Terry and Nathan also are…when he is like me, he feels sad when you invest that much time only to let others have fun with their cars and get than punched in the face for all that work only cause the 1st,2nd or even 3ed revision didnt work…

5.
Let our Stinger Tuning community grow with guys named as Burger BMS, SXTH, Lozic, Lap3 or everyone else who have sleepless nights only to let US have fun with our cars!
Yes they get money for it bur THEY ARE NOT OUR fkn SLAVES!

I think we need a bit patience.

Both Nathan and Ryan works hard to make us happy. For my own I can see that we are moving forward with great progress for each custom version.

I run full E85 and we are learning together. Now we are near to finalize the ECU tune. Then we go for the TCU that we can discuss here also.

TCU probably need some more pressure at WOT and around when new gear is in. It seem that stage 2 has around 18% more pressure. Losic is, I think... around 30% at its stage 3. Also a bit difference how it's done.
It's a balance to cut rpm as fast as possible to reach next gears rpm and that torque that TCU/turbine can shift at. More boost/torque/rpm takes longer time. It will take some testings for us here and are also depending on power that we also have a bit different.
I am pretty sure that shifts 1 to 2 gear should be at 6100 rpm from standing still, then 5900 rpm and maybe at higher gears 5800. That's my own opinion after a lot of testing and logs.

I have mine TCU so it's always shift auto in every mode, no risk to reach rpm cut and auto even in manual mode will be a faster and more exact shift. At sport at 5900 and in Eco, Comfort, Smart in 6300. I really recommend you all to have it so. Then you do the downshift manual but it always shifts auto up. No risk to also rev to high.
I have had another US tune that I was not happy with, at first it newer shifts and I did 7500 before I did notice, very dangerous. They had promised both rpm stop and also a boost cut at 25. When my previous engine failed it boost 31 psi. They blamed the TCU tune.

If we all now be a bit scientific and report about TCU here we are soon there with a great tune stage 3 from the SXTH guys that suits us all.

Nathan and Ryan, keep up the good work you do for many of us!

Didn't know that as it's still working on the site, and the response from Nathan on there was 2 weeks ago. I'll open a ticket and try that then

Don't get me wrong, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, and gave them as much patience as I could muster. But after dealing with this issue for 3-4 months with the tcu, and close to a year now with the ECU including a period where I couldn't drive with the tune at all, I'd be hard pressed you still think that is acceptable.

How did you find this out? Because if they mentioned this in the chat I had, it would have saved me (and probably them too) a lot of headaches due to leaving people out in the cold troubleshooting in chat.

No complaints from me, posting my journey here as this is the first time for me and chasing advice, the responses from everyone have been very helpful.

Ryan has been fantastic and very prompt in sorting out any issues I have had. My latest revision of the stage 1 ECU 1.02 looks to be spot on. He is happy with the logs and I am happy with how it performs and feels. He suggested I move on to stage 2. Happy with his service so far so I will move to stage 2 this week coming.

TCU stage 2 tune. I submitted a ticket for Ryan to have a look Yesterday as I wanted to sort out the ECU tune before moving onto the TCU so in his defence he has not had a chance to respond to it yet being the weekend.

TCU stage 2 (Short Shift) is the one I have been supplied, it does shift at around 6500 and honestly feels not to much different from stock. This is not a complaint, just sharing my experience with it and will post updates as I receive them from Ryan.

My only means of contact with Sxth has been the ticket system. A little over a week, I have a tuned stinger and the car did not have to leave the house besides doing some logs which I think is amazing.

I will keep posting my journey/experience and think everyone should post theirs (good and bad). Transparency is good for all involved.

Yea they seem to be passing alot of the tuning on to ryan which is probably a good thing imo… great dude

Glad to hear some people are having good experiences and always sad to hear that others are not :(

A few things to keep in mind:
We are only a team of two. Ryan and I have been working together for several years and have always taken a slow and methodical approach to things. Since we have rolled out our new ticketing system Ryan has been getting involved in the custom tuning process a bit more.

On the backend, I have completely revised how we handle version control and Ryan and I have been doing a ton of tuning on Stinger/3.3T platform lately to get further feedback. Our process is a bit different than other tuners because we work with OE ECUs, not just one type. Lozic and LAP3 always use the same Calibration ID and port it over onto ECUs. Ryan and I have been working to fix bugs in some Stinger ECU software types but it is not easy. Hyundai Kefico really dropped the ball with this ECU, but they abandoned it after just a few years so it's understandable.

We will be releasing custom software soon that will allow you to run a tailor-made calibration ID that we have created to fix many bugs and provide more consistent performance. I am hoping to release this soon.

I have been super busy with other projects (as some of you may know, I run SXTH and we have been insanely busy with other development). Lots to come!

If you are still facing an issue, please place a ticket on our site and an explanation of the history. We will give these the most priority possible.

Its seems like most of the frustration came from the switch from the chat to the ticket system. Seems some people were not informed the system had changed and just stopped receiving replies! I was personally informed by you when you guys switched over so i never had issues there. But also i think everyone appreciates what you and ryan are doing for the platform with all the innovation from the ek1 and now the new tune customization feature coming.

Thanks for the update Nathan,

The latest update you supplied for my TCU stage 2 short shift seems to be working well and as intended though I have only giving it a quick test. Thanks to yourself and Ryan for answering my tickets promptly.

Time for Stage 2 ECU tune :), have a ticket with Ryan at the moment and looking forward to the results.

Glad to hear it! I made further adjustments to shifting in manual mode as well, so now you can use auto-upshift in M mode for drag racing.

Trying to figure out a better way to show a "menu" of options ;)

Chasing a little advice on my situation,

I went out last night with some friends to give the Stinger a good run against some other vehicles, was getting my butt kicked all night haha.

A good friend of mine, she has a 2021 stinger, Only two mods to the car, Cat back Varex exhaust and a Unchip piggyback Dynoed at 387 WHP, Looked under her bonnet and she has stock intakes running on Pump gas only (met her at the fuel station and she filled while I was there. She left my stinger for dead, gapped me a good couple of car lengths every run, this was from a standing start, 40kmh roiling start and 80kmh rolling start.

I thought maybe its me so we swapped cars and tried it all again and with me now driving her car I was gapping my own car driving hers. I tried against a Mustang 400WHP and was also gapped amongst other vehicles.

I have intakes, Secondary cat delete 2 1/2 duel Exhaust, Sxth stage 2 tune (480WHP, this is what it says on the tune description, I know this in not confirmed and can vary widely) plus a Stage 2 TCU tune Short shift running E40.

I stopped trying as I was worried something may be wrong, my car runs fine with no issues, feels good to drive.

Any suggestions on what I should be doing from here to confirm if the tune has any issues or maybe something else going on with my car? should I get it down to the dyno to test what power its making? I have sent more logs off to Ryan at Sxth and waiting for him to have a look. Any other suggestions that may help?

Log attached, the log settings are set to Ryan's request.
