EK1Pro Tune - Sixth Element

I have the EK1 Lite, but it's under Read ECU ID

Ok, I misunderstood you the first time, found it and got it to read the TCU.

I buy most of my parts from N75 as they are one of the only KDM shops in Canada.

Daniel seems alright. He kind of half-ass answers my questions via email, but im not sure if thats an ESL thing or what.

Re the TCU tune and not turning over, this was not my experience.

Im experiencing the same, I emailed so far and the answer was very short, basically yes we can tune it and you have to pay first. Had a couple more questions, but no reply over a day now. Will wait a little more before moving with Terry.

Anyone know if either BMS or Sxth will support someone in a certain state with maps / adjustments, even if they aren't selling the EK1 in said state? It would be pretty annoying if someone, just theoretically you understand, were to acquire an EK1 Lite, and then be prevented from buying actual maps to use with it, due to their residency in said state..

I think he would, my issue was that I was in NY and I shipped the device to NY so I can collect it before traveling back. No were on Sxth did it say anything about tuning only certain countries. But if you are in the States, Canada or Australia then you are fine.

Just got my tunes from Nathan. He’s been incredibly friendly, easy to talk to and helpful so far!

Overall very pleased how my JB4 to EK1 switch has gone, sofar.

I do wish communication was a bit quicker, but that’s a byproduct of our time zone differential, it’s no one’s fault.
 
Ok I was having fun on an open highway with an M4 trading wide open throttle runs. I'm EK1 Stage 2 (19-20 psi max boost-93 octane), JB4 on Map 0. I wasn't logging and the car felt great but my boost shot up way past 24. When I slowed down and check what the peak boost was it was 27.5!! WTF??? Is there no boost safety on Map 0. I know my boost safety was set at 24 when i was all the other maps previous to the EK1. I can't be building boost like that without blowing a head gasket.

No, no boost safety in map 0, use map 6. Also, what was your ign 1 timing when you had the 27lbs of boost? Usually that's a surge when you close the throttle. Can you post the log?

I didn't log those pulls. I had IGN 2 up on display and it went to 3.8 or so. I'm in Map 6 now and I'll do a pull with a log tomorrow morning and send it to you. I would really appreciate the feedback. Map 6 is something I'm still trying to get familiar with.

Here is the log from a horrible 0-60 Tork TCU launch with ALOT of wheel spin. I think I had 8.7 lbs of boost at 2400 rpm when i spun myself into orbit

Looks like you are pulling 9 degrees of timing at points, and your ign1 advance is... bad. Set map6 to not add anything anywhere and do another log. The Jb4 pushing the boost higher is doing you no favors here. If possible I would do an e30 mix with the tune if you really want it to go fast.

There are 2 different logs here.

Hoping by going from a 49/51 mix (boost juice) to a 70/30-80/20 mix it will make it a little better

Both are using the TCU tune from SXTX with the launch control not working.

The BEF from terry looks like the better of the two, however the IGN1 target is not particularly high. Something is wrong with the Sxth tune, its requesting way too much boost, 25lbs at the end there. thankfully your IGN1 target was low during those high boost levels. Also, I would try and get VP racing M1 Methanol and use that if possible. What nozzle are you using?

I'm using the BM 10 nozzle

Don't mix it. Use it pure. its 99.95% methanol. the system can take it no problem. Also the BM10 should be fine. Ive played around with the 12 and 14 and my setup seems to prefer the 12.

I didn't think the plastic would be ok with it being pure. Thought it would eat through it which is why it needed to be mixed

ahhh. Nope, no issues. Its all rated for it. I've been running M1 the entire time I've had meth with 0 issues besides the BMS solenoid going bad, and I don't think that was a meth issue. Pretty sure it was just the idiot installer who put it in wrong. (Me, I'm the idiot installer)

I thought that the only thing the boost safety in the jb4 did was to drop you to map 0. Or does it effectively force all boost to 0?

from what I am told, boost safety forces the car into limp mode.

A peak 20 tapers to 18psi boost will generally need bm12 to bring trim back down to 25(0%) for pump gas. Map3+BEF is about right at what bm10 can handle.
